About the job:
Sterndahl is seeking a contract to hire employment opportunity for an organized and detail-oriented Accounts Receivable Specialist. This position involves a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry with a focus on project setup, billing, and reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in accounts receivable processes and procedures, as well as strong analytical and communication skills. This position will report to the VP of Administration but will have frequent interactions with the President and other key leaders.

Responsibilities:
Setting up projects/jobs according to company procedures
Handling billing processes, including the quantities spreadsheet and verification with customer or agency
Post customer payments accurately and efficiently daily
Submit invoices to the customer per contractual requirements that are accurate and complete
Resolve quantity and/or billing discrepancies
Work closely with leadership to collect on past-due accounts
Maintain relationships with customers while collecting payments
File pre-lims and releases
Set up new accounts
Assist with any projects and tasks required by Leadership
Meet month-end deadlines
Accounting-related administrative support
Participate in activities to improve the efficiency of the billing process
Ensure compliance with construction industry regulations and standards
Skills:
2+ years of accounts receivable experience in the construction industry
Proficient in ProContractor or comparable accounting software
Strong work ethic, multi-tasking skills, high level of accuracy and attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external parties at all levels
Ability to effectively problem-solve and manage confidential financial matters
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
Knowledge of best practices in the areas of accounts receivable and accounting principles
Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects, monitor workflow, and maintain cooperative working relationships

Sterndahl, we are now one of the larger companies involved in the Traffic Safety Industry in Southern California. We specialize in major freeway, highway, and airport construction and rehabilitation projects as well as smaller local projects.
