For more than three decades, LGBTQ+ Victory Fund, along with and LGBTQ+ Victory Institute and LGBTQ+ Victory Action, has helped to train, place, and elect thousands of openly LGBTQ+ public officials at every level of government. Our leaders have been catalysts for expanding legal rights for LGBTQ+ people across the country, and they have transformed our nation’s policies and shifted our political landscape towards equality, one election at a time. Today, over 1200 LGBTQ+ Americans are serving in elected office due to the work of Victory. Victory’s work continues as LGBTQ+ people are severely underrepresented in all levels of government – serving in only 0.25% of all elected offices in the United States.

Position Summary: The Vice President of Development is a critical senior management role responsible for overseeing all revenue-generating activities for LGBTQ+ Victory Fund. This includes major individual giving, events, corporate and institutional giving. The VP of Development will be tasked with building and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy to achieve annual revenue targets and ensure sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities:

Revenue Generation and Strategy:

Develop and implement a strategic fundraising plan to meet annual and long-term revenue goals.

Oversee major individual giving, events, corporate and institutional giving to diversify and expand revenue streams.

Engage and collaborate with the leadership team, staff, board members, and other stakeholders to support fundraising initiatives.

Team Leadership and Management:

Lead and manage a development team of seven employees, including those focused on events, corporate and institutional giving, individual major gifts, and database management.

Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.

Establish staff targets and goals and monitor staff performance.

Develop the annual budget for the development department.

Reporting and Analysis:

Provide monthly revenue reports, including detailed analysis and insights on performance against targets.

Report progress and outcomes in weekly meetings with the CEO, quarterly board meetings, and monthly development committee meetings.

Work closely with other departments to ensure alignment of fundraising strategies with organizational goals.

Collaborate on integrated campaigns and initiatives to maximize donor engagement and support.

Lead direct solicitations and manage relationships with major donors and corporate partners.

Identify and cultivate new funding opportunities to broaden the organization’s donor base.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience;

At least 10 years years of professional fundraising experience, with a demonstrated track record of success in political or non-profit fundraising.

Proven experience managing and developing a team of fundraising professionals.

Strong strategic planning and execution skills, with the ability to build and implement comprehensive fundraising plans.

Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire staff, board members, and donors.

Excellent analytical and reporting abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Strong understanding of donor databases and data management best practices.

Commitment to the mission and values of LGBTQ+ Victory, with a passion for advancing LGBTQ+ equality.

Ability to travel up to 50%. Required to work evenings and weekends for events and meetings as needed.

The salary range for this position is $140,000 – $160,000 . Please include salary requirements in your materials. Full-time staff are eligible for Victory’s comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, health reimbursement account, medical flexible spending account, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, 401k, parental leave, and generous paid time off.

The position is based in Washington, DC.
