About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President for Operations (VPO) to serve as a strategic partner to the President and a member of the executive team. The VPO will be responsible for overseeing the University's enabling infrastructure, including the built environment, technology, and human resources organizations. This role involves working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, Provost, Deans, and other senior administrators to develop and support strategic and operational initiatives that align with the University's mission. The successful candidate will be expected to provide leadership in real-estate development, capital investment activities, and ensure the quality and financial performance of the built environment. They will also be tasked with fostering a culture of robust business practices, contributing to long-range planning, and maintaining a high level of service and delivery.Candidates for the VPO position should have a Bachelor's degree in a related field, with a Master's degree preferred, and a minimum of 10 years' of experience leading administrative functions within a large, complex enterprise or research institution. The role requires a proven track record of success in serving as a strategic advisor, managing complex budgets and projects, and achieving financial goals. Experience in attracting, developing, and retaining top talent at all levels, as well as working with unions, is essential. The VPO must have deep expertise in at least one of the areas - the built environment, human resources, or information technology - and ideally some experience in all. The candidate should be able to inspire trust, demonstrate strong project management skills, possess excellent quantitative and financial acumen, and have the ability to understand and address complex interdependencies. Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse community are also required.
