At the core of the company's industry-leading capabilities is its world-class, proprietary technology platform. The cloud-based system provides clients a unified global system for seamless order processing, inventory alignment, and supply chain optimization through unparalleled visibility and integration.
Currently, they are looking to hire a VP of Software Development to oversee the development and maintenance of these critical applications.
The Role You ll Play
As the VP of Software Development, you will lead the agile Dev and QA teams responsible for building, deploying and supporting the company's proprietary software applications. In this strategic role, you will set the engineering vision and work closely with the IT Infrastructure, Product Management and Application Support functions to drive the technical roadmap and optimize the software development lifecycle. Drawing on your deep expertise in enterprise architecture and strong business acumen, you will work closely with the CIO and ensure efficient processes are implemented and followed as you manage the high-performing software development and QA teams.
Manage and lead an in-house technical team of approximately 20 people, including Development Directors, Quality Assurance, and Project Management
Define and enforce software development and quality assurance processes to improve quality, predictability and cost-efficiency
Design application architectures to ensure reliability, scalability and stability of systems
Oversee the implementation and continuous improvement of the Software Development Lifecycle Process (SDLC)
Align technology investments with business priorities and governance oversight
Background Profile:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, with 10+ years of software development and 10+ years of people management experience
Extensive technical background with hands-on experience in software/product development, web technologies, requirements/gap analysis, and roadmapping
Expertise in Agile development practices, including story estimation, backlog grooming, standups, reviews, and retrospectives
Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
Proficient in software engineering best practices, such as version control, deployment methodologies, and high-quality documentation
Experience re-architecting, integrating, and sunsetting legacy applications
Skilled in data modeling, database development, and inferring data models from existing data
Proficient in .NET Framework (C#, ASP.net), HTML, XML, SQL
Exposure to AWS services like ECR, ALB, ElastiCache, S3, and experience with deployment to AWS ECS
Familiarity with software security standards, EDI, and API integrations
Background in supply chain, transportation, warehouse, inventory, or 3PL software is highly desired
Experience with server-side applications using C in Unix/Linux environments is a plus
Knowledge of HTML5, SASS, LESS, React + Redux, TypeScript, and front-end tooling is a plus
