Vice President of Sales - Freight Forwarding Industry

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of International Business Development to lead our Air & Ocean Freight Forwarding division. This pivotal role is responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, and enhancing our market presence. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of international logistics, a strong sales acumen, and the ability to navigate complex global markets.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning and Execution:

Develop and implement a comprehensive business development strategy for the Air & Ocean Freight division.

Identify new market opportunities and create plans to expand service offerings and market share.

Set and achieve revenue targets, ensuring alignment with the company’s overall strategic goals.

Sales and Business Development:

Lead and manage the business development team to drive sales growth and achieve financial targets.

Develop and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Conduct market research to stay abreast of industry trends, competitor activities, and regulatory changes.

Client Management:

Oversee client acquisition and retention strategies to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Negotiate and close major contracts, ensuring favorable terms and conditions for the company.

Address and resolve complex customer issues and challenges promptly and effectively.

Operational Oversight:

Collaborate with operations, finance, and other departments to ensure seamless service delivery and operational efficiency.

Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the effectiveness of business development initiatives.

Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance service quality and operational performance.

Leadership and Team Development:

Provide strong leadership, mentorship, and support to the business development team.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Logistics, or a related field; MBA preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in international business development within the freight forwarding industry, with a focus on air and ocean freight.

Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth in a global context.

Strong knowledge of international trade regulations, customs processes, and global logistics networks.

Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to think strategically, analyze complex situations, and develop actionable solutions.

Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience managing and developing high-performing teams.

Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Willingness to travel internationally as needed.
