Position Overview
Be a part of a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that children without access receive healthy food, nutrition education, and physical activity. As the Director of Grants and Foundation Relations, you will be responsible for researching and executing grant proposals, managing relationships with foundation prospects and donors, and building foundation support to achieve the organization’s fundraising goals.
Responsibilities
Conduct research to evaluate the suitability of available grants for our mission
Prepare and compile grant proposals, and represent the agency during grant presentations.
Maintain a calendar to track grant submission and reporting deadlines
Seek out and solicit foundation grant opportunities
Foster and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders and engage in foundation partnerships
Build strong interdepartmental relationships to effectively cultivate and manage institutional donors
Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward large grants and new foundation partners, and maintain a portfolio in the five to seven figure range
Oversee a portfolio of 50+ active donors and prospects with high giving potential, focusing on gifts and grants of $25,000 or more
Write passionate, accurate, concise, and compelling grant applications
Conduct research on public and private foundation and government funding prospects
Maintain a grant tracking system for research, positioning, application status, and deadlines
Ensure all grant reporting requirements are met, including timely report filing
Write emails, letters, presentations, and perform other administrative tasks related to account management
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in a related field
5 years of experience in grant writing and successful fundraising from private and public foundations for nonprofit organizations
Proven track record of fundraising achievements with increasing levels of success and responsibility
Demonstrated effectiveness in working with a diverse range of stakeholders
Proficient in using computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite; experience with Raiser’s Edge is preferred
Strong communication skills with a notable public presence
Excellent writing and presentation skills, both efficient and compelling
Effective critical and strategic thinker
Strong project management skills: able to independently manage projects to completion and collaborate effectively with others
Highly organized, capable of managing multiple diverse tasks, activities, and projects simultaneously
Good interpersonal skills: ability to work with cross-functional teams and lead through influence
Reliable and effective member of a high-performance development team
Passionate about the organization’s mission
Positive, resilient, and able to perform well in an entrepreneurial environment
Compensation
Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
