POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Pickerington Local School District seeks qualified applicants for the Director of Public Relations
JOB GOAL:
To enhance the communication processes that furthers the district's goals to support and strengthen internal and external communication. This individual would be a direct liaison between the district and media, the community at large and various organizations. Audiences include, but are not limited to, parents, students, community leaders, residents, local and regional media, public officials/government employees, private organizations, district personnel and the Board of Education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, or equivalent experience
?Minimum of five (5) years experience in public relations or a related field, including experience in media relations, crisis communication, and public relations planning.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
Working knowledge of internal and external public relations programs.
Ability to communicate easily and professionally with a wide range of people and coordinate efforts to meet district goals.
Demonstrated expertise in desktop publications, graphics, photography, website development, and multi-media productions.
Demonstrated experience in brand management
And/or any additional qualifications, training, or other credentials, as determined by the Board of Education
REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES: Communication Skills: Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret information relevant to the position, including being able to speak effectively to small and large groups of people, and to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Leadership Ability: Must be able to articulate the vision and mission for the district and provide appropriate direction, guidance, and management skills to achieve them.
Mathematics Skills: Must have the ability to work with basic mathematical and computational concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Technology Skills: Able to effectively use, as it applies to your specific job function, typical office applications and computer programs such as word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations; must be able to use email.
