About the Role
The Company is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their legal and risk management department. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team, providing essential legal support to the organization. This role requires a professional with a strong background in the architectural, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry, particularly in areas such as contract drafting and negotiations, claim advice, strategies for contract administration and dispute resolution, and union agreements. The Corporate Counsel will also be responsible for managing a wide range of legal matters, including but not limited to contract disputes, government contracts and compliance, litigation, and employment issues. The ideal candidate will have a Juris Doctorate degree from a top accredited law school, be admitted to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction, and have approximately 3-6 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years as in-house counsel in the AEC industry.Key responsibilities for the Corporate Counsel include drafting, structuring, and advising on commercial construction contracts, as well as providing legal guidance to department leaders and corporate leadership. The role involves retaining and managing outside legal counsel, providing litigation support, and responding to legal inquiries. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, the ability to lead discussions on legal issues, and a proven track record of balancing a high workload while delivering practical and constructive legal advice in a dynamic business environment. The position is demanding but rewarding, and the successful candidate will be expected to work with integrity, grow professionally, and build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
