Executive Education Job Description
Smith College, Department of Executive Education, has a newly created position for a Business Development Manager. The successful candidate will join a team dedicated to empowering women leaders through programming and rich learning experiences offered online, in-person, and at client locations through custom programming and partnerships.

Job Summary
Identify new business opportunities and growth projections. Forecast and deliver on sales targets by qualifying leads and closing them to reach revenue targets of Executive Education programs.
Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Essential Functions Contribute to the development of Business Development strategy and emerging tactics
Conduct market research and analysis to identify new business contacts and leads
Create a sales pipeline. Pursue leads and translate into program sales
Research, plan and implement new target market initiatives
Build value driven relationships with key stakeholders
Collaborate on the development and execution of marketing initiatives including timelines, materials (web content, email campaigns, etc.), proofing and analytics
Increase brand awareness through a clear understanding of Executive Education program offerings
Manage the sales cycle utilizing CRM (salesforce)
Contribute to website and social media to drive engagement of target audience
Ensure clear and consistent communication of process, progress, deadlines, and decisions to all partners
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications (knowledge, skills, education, experience, certifications, licenses)
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field with at least 3-5 years of relevant/transferrable sales experience, preferably in a business or higher education context or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Success in demonstrating closing a sale. Experience working with diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Proficiency with CRM (Salesforce), Google G Suite, Zoom, and Microsoft Office. Executive-level verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in an environment with constantly changing client needs. Executive presence, managing high level clients with discretion and confidentiality.
Skills
Role requires interaction with executive level leaders who make decisions in talent development for their organizations. Understanding the audience of decision-makers is essential to be able to meet the needs and customize executive education experiences. A variety of sales skills including relationship building, initiative, self-discipline, negotiation and influencing are necessary for the role. Outstanding communication, problem-solving and intellectual curiosity are complementary skills to this role. Experience and minimum proficiency with CRM, databases, online learning platforms, and Google Analytics. Ability to build trust and productive working relationships with individuals at all levels. Data-driven decision making with good judgment and confidentiality required. Has a passion for advancing women in business. May involve future travel.
Additional Information
This position is eligible for hybrid following an initial onboarding period. It is not eligible for fully remote work.
This is a non commission position.
