This position is based out of Feeding America’s Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day “work anywhere” program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.
The Opportunity
The Manager, Recruiting is responsible for the complete recruiting lifecycle. They provide counsel and direction to hiring teams on effective internal and external talent staffing solutions. This includes identifying, screening and presenting diverse, qualified talent to hiring managers as well as developing recruiting plans and guiding hiring managers and candidates through the full recruiting process ensuring an inclusive and equitable approach. They provide facilitation and hands on support for daily recruiting activities working in partnership with hiring managers to fill open positions at all levels of the organization.
Compensation
Here at Feeding America national organization, equity is central to our mission and is an integral part of our compensation policies and structures. Historically, systemic racism and sexism in all aspects of our society, including compensation practices, has led to pay inequities that negatively impact people of color, women, and especially women of color. These practices include basing salary offers on previous compensation and negotiating salary offers. As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. The salary range listed below represents the starting to mid-point salaries for positions and comparable roles at this level at our organization and candidates should expect to be offered a salary near the starting point of the range that is listed on the job posting. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.
Salary Range: $68,000 to $86,000+ Based on Experience
Responsibilities:
Execute attraction and sourcing strategies to ensure a diverse candidate pipeline for the critical functions, positions and skill sets required to fulfill Feeding America’s mission. This includes the engagement of leadership within the organization to identify networks and professional organizations that foster the attraction of diverse talent across a range of disciplines. This also includes identification of specialized search firms to help source diverse candidates as needed.
Provide hands-on guidance and facilitation for hiring managers throughout the recruiting process and partner with hiring managers to understand their needs for specific jobs. Work with hiring managers to clarify selection criteria, develop candidate sourcing strategies, identify an appropriate interview team, screen resumes and interview candidates.
Facilitate best-in-class interview process and practices that support the evaluation of candidates based on specifically identified competencies and experience and promote equitable selection outcomes. This includes standardized interview practices and the development and maintenance of a library of standard interview questions and other assessment tools. Serve as a facilitator, coach and just in time trainer for interview team members helping them understand the interview process and how to utilize the tools and resources available ensuring process and practice are fully adopted and continuously improved.
Facilitate structured interview debrief sessions to ensure data-based, equitable and inclusive candidate selection anchored in specific selection criteria.
Manage and coordinate all communications with candidates during the interview and hiring process through offer and acceptance.
Serve as the key contact and owner of our third-party applicant tracking system including the development of training, enhancements, uptake, reporting, etc.
Maintain recruiting metrics focused on quality, diversity and timeliness of hiring. This should include a clear definition of “diverse slate” and reporting against this requirement. It should also include standards around time to fill positions and metrics to track new hire success.
Cultivate relationships with search partners developing relationships based on a strategic plan to meet Feeding America’s recruiting needs and with a focus on engaging and supporting firms with diverse leadership/owners.
Maintain organization headcount, positions list, and org charts and facilitate alignment on position changes with HR team and leadership.
Work closely with other members of the Human Resources Team to help successfully on-board new team members to the organization.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
Five plus years of experience leading all aspects of the recruiting process across a broad range of disciplines. Experience recruiting for a mission-based organization is considered a plus.
Demonstrated experience developing recruiting strategies, processes and tools with a focus on building high quality, diverse, candidate pools.
Knowledge and comfort with building and maintaining structured, competency-based interview processes. Strong process facilitation skills working with diverse interview teams.
Experience coaching and training all levels of staff in best-in-class interview skills and techniques.
Experience developing and managing relationships with external recruiting partners.
Strong working knowledge of how to administer and leverage applicant tracking systems. Experience with Jobvite is considered a plus.
