Application Support Analyst

Capula is a leading global hedge fund, head quartered in London. We are looking for an Application Support Analyst to join our New York team. We are looking for candidates with strong communication abilities, and are looking to utilise their technical skills to support the trading and middle office applications.
This is a long term role where we expect the successful candidate to learn and grow professionally over time. The successful candidate will use and develop their skills in Python, SQL, Sungard Front Arena and some C#. Whilst we do not require candidates to have any prior experience working in finance, candidates should have a keen interest in finance and will be expected to learn more and more about finance over time.
Initial duties and responsibilities:
React and resolve L1/L2 issues, as the first line of defence
Detailed analysis of issues that need escalation to L3
Learning the financial products and business operations happening at Capula
Creating and enhancing procedural run books used across the team
Creating and enhancing monitoring dashboards using Grafana and metric driven alerting
Day to day management of a complex application suite, improving stability and performance over time
Overnight support as necessary, systems are global in scope. On call L2 support. Able to liaise with remote teams
Release management working closely with the Dev team
Improve processes, tools and procedures as needed
Basic scripting (generally in Python) to automate some manual procedures or information gathering via APIs
Longer term duties and responsibilities:
Seeing trends/themes in application support to guide the team priorities towards resolutions with bigger returns on investment and/or reductions in operational risk.
[Optional] Perform some development tasks (when support workload allows for it).
Tasks to be limited only by level of development skills the candidate wants to achieve.
[Optional] Growth in scope of role to that of Site Reliability Engineer (SRE)
Requirements
Education and Qualifications
Quantitative degree is desirable, but not necessary
Experience
Ideally 3+ years of professional experience
Whilst it is a preference that candidates have some finance experience, we shall consider candidates with experience in different sectors so long as they have a desire to learn more about finance over time
Some experience dealing with the Front Office, ideally in a Hedge Fund, would be advantageous
Skills
Calm and easy-going person, able to empathize with distressed users in a fast paced, high performance environment. Ability to quickly discover users' personality traits and manage them accordingly
Fluency in Python is highly desirable
Knowledge of Linux, Bash, Powershell, Git, Grafana, Prometheus is highly desirable.
Some understanding of Fixed Income financial products would be beneficial.
For example bonds, swaps, IR futures, repos, swaptions, bond futures, etc.
Working knowledge of one or more of Sungard Front Arena, Excel, SQL, C#, Perl would be a plus
