Position Summary

The Manager of Business Administration provides direction and management for the UCLA Lab School. Incumbent will have proven skills in financial management and analysis of a self-supporting $8 million budget and management experience working with personnel policies in support of academic and non-academic employees. Success in this position will require leadership to facilitate organizational analyses, strategic planning, and experience developing business models for implementation in a sales and service environment. The manager is responsible for overall adherence to UCLA financial and personnel policies and procedures. Duties include the supervision of staff leads in the following areas: front office, business office, operations & physical plant management (including emergency planning), information technology, and a robust extended day program. The manager must be flexible, organized, calm and able to work in a family-friendly, diverse environment with changing priorities. The manager reports to the Lab School Principal. The Lab School serves approximately 450 students between the ages of 4 - 12, employs 33 demonstration teachers, over 45 academic and staff employees, and occupies approximately 39,000 square feet of assignable space on a child-friendly campus.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Salary offers at the top of the range are not common. Qualifications

Experience using computer software, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and email/calendar software. (Required)

Advanced working knowledge of the on-line financial systems including QDB, DACSS, OASIS, OFSR, TOF, Travel Express, and BruinBuy. (Preferred)

Strong business management skills to balance revenue and expense decisions and to advise lab school leaders on the annual budget and other financial matters. (Required)

Knowledge and experience with campus sales & service procedures (Required)

Decision-making ability to guide the financial development of new programs and perform analysis of budget, staffing, non-salary or other implementation issues and make recommendations which may influence the direction, goals, or objectives of the program (Required)

Demonstrated skill to identify the audit implications of fiscal actions with analytical ability to introduce methods/procedures to prevent unanticipated outcomes. (Required)

Demonstrated skills in negotiating and exchanging ideas with others to formulate solutions. (Required)

Ability to actively participate in the strategic planning process and to initiate and contribute significantly to the establishment of work objectives for the Lab School. (Required)

Demonstrated ability to provide leadership as part of a team and to assist the Principal and Assistant Principal during peak workloads. (Required)

Expert knowledge of the overall financial hierarchy and financial corporate structure of a large institution of higher education sufficient to manage income and expenditures internal and external sources within UCLA's Full Accounting Unit structure (Required)

Strong verbal and written communication skills, using grammatically correct English for business correspondence such as brief memoranda, internal operating procedures, performance evaluations, notices to parents, and reports required by regulatory and (Required)

Experience in managing capital projects and ability to develop capital programs for facility improvements, directing architects, and other building professionals and suppliers, and administer capital and equipment budgets. (Required)

Ability to organize and establish work priorities. (Required)

Ability to envision and articulate the philosophy and goals of the Lab School and the programs offered at the school. (Required)
