The Executive Director will refine the vision and strategy for Latinos for Education's continued growth and lead local program implementation, policy and advocacy efforts, fundraising, communications, and regional operations. This is a unique and exciting role for a local leader with an entrepreneurial spirit who is motivated by the opportunity to build Latinos for Education's reach in the city of Houston and surrounding area.

Responsibilities Regional Vision, Leadership and Operations

Develop and execute a regional strategy that aligns with the organization's mission and goals

Build and lead a high-performing team, including hiring and onboarding new staff, developing and managing team performance, and promoting a culture of collaboration and innovation

Develop and manage against a comprehensive regional budget to ensure financial sustainability in the region

Contribute input and feedback into the organizational strategy for Latinos for Education

Live out Latinos for Education's core values and actively contribute to a positive team culture in the region and across the organization

Ensure regional data and metrics are effectively tracked and managed in the relevant technology platforms

Regional External Affairs and Fundraising

With support from the national External Affairs team, the Executive Director will:

Serve as the primary fundraiser for the region by managing and growing the TX portfolio

Develop partnerships with local organizations that advance our programs and advocacy efforts and support our broader network of Latino leaders in the region.

Serve as the primary spokesperson for the region in print, video, and digital media

Represent the organization in external forums, including conferences, meetings, and public speaking engagements

Cultivate relationships with key leaders and influencers in the region

Statewide Policy and Advocacy Leadership

Design and create an implementation plan (including resource needs) for a comprehensive Greater Houston policy and advocacy strategy that advances the organization's mission and goals in collaboration with key stakeholders, including legislators, government agencies, community organizations, and advocacy partners

Lead efforts to identify and prioritize policy issues impacting Latino students and families across Texas, staying abreast of legislative developments, emerging trends, and best practices

Build and cultivate relationships with policymakers, thought leaders, and other stakeholders to influence policy decisions and drive systemic change in education equity and access

Represent Latinos for Education in statewide policy discussions, hearings, and working groups, effectively communicating the organization's priorities and advocating for policies that address the needs of Latino communities

Monitor and evaluate the impact of policy and advocacy efforts, tracking key metrics and outcomes to measure progress and inform future strategies

Regional Program Implementation

Oversee regional program implementation, ensuring a high-quality experience for fellows and alumni in the region

Oversee regional recruitment for Latinos for Education's fellowships

Oversee district and nonprofit programmatic partnerships

Monitor and evaluate regional program outcomes to ensure goals are met or exceeded

Ensure cultivation of the Latino network and grow regional membership of EdCentro (our online platform for Latino education leaders)

Qualifications This is an extraordinary opportunity for a self-motivated individual to expand Latinos for Education's impact in the Houston, TX region and for someone passionate about educational equity for Latinos. and leadership. The successful candidate will be highly organized, have excellent interpersonal skills, a strong local network, and operate with a sense of urgency. Specific requirements include:

Required:

Based in the Houston, TX region

Fluent in Spanish

12+ years of general professional experience

7+ years of experience leading outcome-driven teams

3+ years of development experience, specifically closing five and six-figure gifts

Understanding of local context and Latino education landscape in Texas

Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

Master's degree in related field(s)

Experience working in the education non-profit sector

Latinos for Education offers competitive industry rate salary bands to retain and grow talented individuals. We conduct a robust internal and external benchmarking process to ensure that our salaries are competitive.

The salary range for this role is commensurate with experience and is as follows:

Compensation Band: $140,250 - $189,750

Mid-Point: $165,000

The compensation band midpoint represents the market rate for a position, and a candidate who fully meets the qualifications and experience required for the role will generally be paid at this level. An offer made to a candidate that is above the midpoint would represent someone who is extraordinarily qualified.
