About the Role
Watermark is in search of a Business Development Manager, responsible for guiding and leading a team of Business Development Representatives. This team is responsible for identifying and nurturing new sales opportunities. The BDR Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the team.
Overall the goal is to uncover qualified sales opportunities where Watermark has a strong chance of winning the business. This is a challenging, exciting role that will test your sales skills, strategic thinking and drive important results for Watermark. This team acts as the bridge between Marketing and Sales and is a key component in creating a revenue pipeline for the entire business.
Watermark invests heavily in onboarding and will provide the tools, data, training and coaching to help you be successful.
The BDR Manager position reports to either the Senior Director or Vice President of Sales.
Responsibilities:
Coach, hire, and train new business development representative
Develop strategies for the team to uncover and create sales opportunities in both new and existing customer accounts
Partner with marketing to appropriately transition leads from well-planned demand generation efforts over to the team for follow up
Create and analyze the results of cadences
Manage the day-to-day activities of the team through the use of Watermark’s tools and metrics created specifically
Identify a customer’s business needs and articulate how Watermark’s solutions can address those needs
Collaborate with the rest of the sales team on account strategy, demand generation activities, execution plans and results
Assist BDRs in overcoming objections and strategies for effective calling
Motivate team members to achieve opportunity creation goals
Stay abreast of best practices, tools and strategies in the business development domain
Maintain and continue to learn relevant knowledge about our products and the market we serve
Work with human resources as needed and appropriate when leading a team
Maintain business development and be willing to step in and assist when team members are out
Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience in Saas business development
Experience leading a team
Experience in edTech
Excited about connecting with prospects and selling
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team environment and motivate others through positivity
High level of integrity
Confident, driven, self-starter with strong organizational skills
Entrepreneurial spirit, likes to try new things
Comfortable leading through a metrics driven organization
Proficient in Office suite products
Experience with Salesforce
Experience with Outreach or Salesloft a plus

Watermark is committed to fair and equitable pay practices for all qualified candidates. The pay range for this role is $75K - 80K + commission and varies based on several factors including geographical location, level of experience related to the role, education/ licensure/certificates of the individual filling the role and other business and operational considerations.
