Company Description
We are a non-profit legal services organization dedicated to advocating for children's rights when the family court fails to protect them in cases involving family violence. Based in Columbia, Maryland, we provide statewide support and resources to protective caregivers and attorneys, as well as technical assistance to out-of-state individuals. Our mission is to protect and advocate for children affected by family violence, supporting them and their protective caregivers through legal services, community outreach, education, and policy recommendations.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for an Intake Paralegal. As an Intake Paralegal, you will be responsible for various day-to-day tasks, including communication with potential clients and stakeholders, document review, compilation of resources, limited legal document review and preparation. This role is based in Columbia, Maryland, with flexibility for remote work.
Qualifications
Must have a Bachelor's degree or a combination of an Associate's degree, paralegal certificate, and relevant skills.
One-year paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program.
Experience in family law practice or legal services for victims of abuse is preferred.
Strong background in law and legal processes.
Experience in legal document preparation and review.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to conduct thorough research.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and remotely.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Pro, and familiarity with MDEC and case management systems like CLIO, or Legal Server.
