Job Summary
Supervises dietitians and diet technicians in the performance of day-to-day responsibilities. Assigns work, monitors performance, fosters professional growth, and provides guidance and direction to assigned staff. Evaluates compliance with departmental goals and create action plans to improve. Collaborates with Nutrition Services leadership to develop, update, and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines relevant to the department.

Department Description
The Nutrition Services department is within the Nutrition and Food Services department at UCSF Medical Center. The staff is comprised of dietitians, diet technicians, and nutrition assistants. The staff supports inpatient, outpatient, pediatric, and adult nutrition care at UCSF's various medical campuses.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Registered Dietitian (RD)
Academic and applied background in clinical nutrition. Knowledge of medical nutrition therapy principles. Solid understanding of the application of principles to fit the needs of patients of diverse health situations.
She has demonstrated leadership skills. Motivational and inspires staff to improve the division. Solid customer service skills. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Solid organizational skills applied to personal work and improving organization of assigned staff and department.
Actively collaborates and supports the work of others. Effective communicator with peers, patients/families, and multidisciplinary team members. Empathetic and aware of the diverse needs of others.
Solid skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify solutions. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through a critical thinking process.
Solid communication skills; including active listening, critical thinking, advising, and counseling skills. Solid knowledge of common computer programs. Demonstrated ability to teach others.
Three to five years of progressive leadership and responsibility in the healthcare field
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree preferred.
License/Certification
Registered Dietitian (RD)
Certification in nutrition specialty area or ability to obtain at the next scheduled examination date, generally within six months.
California Children's Services (CCS) paneled if working in pediatrics or ability to obtain at time of hire
