Janel Group is seeking a skilled Sales Executive with freight forwarding or service industry experience, a core following, and the ability to close new business to join our team!  This is a unique opportunity to continue building your sales career inside a growing organization that has a global reach and is built around the importance of a local, personal touch.

This position supports our New England Region and can be based anywhere in driving distance of our offices in Boston, MA; Providence, RI, North Haven, CT, or Windsor Locks, CT. Extensive travel within the New England region is required.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be responsible for increasing gross profit and market share while developing long-term relationships with new customers. This is a hunting and farming sales role where you will create new opportunities as well as aggressively growing new business with existing accounts.

To be successful, you will have a natural ability to build relationships, liaison with Operations, and sell customized service solutions based on Janel Group’s “We Care More” value proposition. If that describes you, we’d love to talk!

Our commission plan is based on results and gross profit and it is uncapped.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Energetically present Janel’s portfolio of products and services to prospects and clients every day via in-person, telephone, video, social media, email, and other avenues

Develop new business through clearly defined account targets, using a “solutions” based approach to engage and close new customers

Maintain strong business relationships with our current and future customers

Liaison with the Operations to assure client retention, expansion and new business growth, as well as collaborate to onboard new business (including developing customer SOP’s)

WHAT WE REQUIRE

Minimum 3 - 5 years of operations and/or business development experience in the either the freight forwarding, customs brokerage, logistics industry (ideally including experience in small/mid-sized firms) or equivalent experience in a sales role within a service industry.

Demonstrated and documented Sales Selling Success

Strong understanding of logistics and freight forwarding products, solutions, pricing structure, and terminology is a plus

Customer focused with proven history of exceeding customer expectations

Effective written and verbal communicator with excellent presentation and interpersonal skills, including strong negotiation skills

Organized, self-motivated, performance driven, with a strong work ethic

Experience with CargoWise is a plus, as is using a CRM and operating within a sales funnel model
