Job Summary
Open Hand seeks to offer a foodservice training program to underemployed individuals, leveraging our knowledge and expertise in food manufacturing to teach employable skills. The WDP will offer meaningful, hands-on experience in food service designed to help participants develop food service skills and knowledge as well as any soft skills and support needed for a career in the food service industry. This program will require collaboration with other agencies for recruitment and case management services to overcome significant barriers to employment.
This position is responsible for developing and managing Open Hand’s Workforce Development Program (WDP). Workforce Development Manager will be responsible for the full cycle of the program from recruiting participants through program graduation and employment opportunities. In addition, the WDP Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with program and funding requirements, program development, personnel supervision, and assisting with securing resources.
Supervisory Responsibilities
None immediately. As program needs are defined, a staffing and funding assessment will be needed to determine personnel required, any of whom will report to WFD Manager
Duties/ Responsibilities
With direction and support from Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director and through relationships developed with other similar programs and supporting agencies, create and implement Open Hand’s Workforce Development Program.
Develop relationships with job training program providers and other partners to explore partnership possibilities including external boards, committees, and initiatives, including employer engagement and partnerships.
Create MOUs with agencies who will collaborate with Open Hand to provide wrap-around support and case management. Manage these relationships for continued successful integration.
Provide high quality management and develop ambitious program goals for workforce development program.
Provide program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation while working to expand offerings.
Define objectives, indicators, & outcomes with Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer to ensure program success.
Responsible for the collection, analysis, and timely reporting of program data on an ongoing basis to share with the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer, funders, and external partners.
Manage program budget with Chief Operating Officer and provide recommendations to stay in compliance with agency guidelines, funder requirements, and a balanced budget.
Work with the OH Development and Marketing department to prepare and submit proposals and reports.
Work closely with Nutrition Services team to enhance training curriculum, as needed, to keep up with industry requirements.
Develop strategies to identify, recruit, enroll and retain qualified participants.
Coordinate program recruitment, enrollment, retention, and placement in training program.
Develop relationships with business partners and employers to promote job placement opportunities for program graduates.
Oversee the training schedule for all trainees including orientation, job readiness training and hands-on training in the kitchen.
Coordinate with partners for appropriate job counseling, case management and referrals for participants and graduates.
Coordinate coaching, resume writing, interview skills and soft skills, etc., and for participants
Connect graduates to employer(s)/employment opportunities and to approved vocational skills training providers/training opportunities.
Attend participant and community events and coordinate publicity in coordination with Open Hand’s Development and Marketing team.
Attend professional development applicable to field and population being served on an ongoing basis
Required Skills/Abilities

Education/Experience
Bachelor’/s degree in education, social work or related field preferred
Minimum of 3-years of experience in workforce development programs, adult education, vocational training, or related programs in non-profit organizations
At least 2-years of experience in a supervisory role
Proficient with Microsoft Suite
Excellent written and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, if needed (evening and weekend hours)
Demonstrated commitment to adult education, vocational training, and life skills development.
Experience working with underserved communities and adult learners.
Commitment to social justice and sensitivity to the assets and challenges of a diverse group of participants.
Bilingual, a plus
Physical Requirements
Must be able to lift at least 30 pounds repeatedly and to stand for long periods of time. The job requires repetitive and continuous physical labor, INCLUDING FREQUENT TURNING, TWISTING, BENDING OVER, STANDING AND WALKING.
