The Parent Encouragement Program (PEP) seeks an energetic and collaborative candidate to join the PEP team as Programs Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly regarded and growing nonprofit organization in the DC area.

An ideal candidate will be interested in working and building relationships with parents, both in workplace and school settings. A strong interest in parenting, mental health, and wellness is a plus. Language fluency in Spanish, French or Vietnamese is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities and Duties
The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director and supports PEP’s work in two areas: Workplace Programs and the Brilliant Futures contract.
Workplace Programs provide free parenting education and support to 1000+ employees of businesses and a federal agency. In addition, Workplace Programs is responsible for producing 2 live webinars per month for the general public.
The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Director to:
Produce private webinars and online office hours (approx. 4 events per month) for parents & caregivers in the workplace.
Connect with parents enrolled through their employer to engage in PEP private or public programs through monthly and day-of email reminders, graphics and visuals, and other marketing elements.
Serve the parents who are enrolled with PEP: answer questions, manage data on attendance & platform usage, and analyze the data for trends or opportunities to meet client needs.
Assist with the logistics of Workplace Program events both online and occasionally in-person.
Assist with producing monthly live webinars available to the general public: keeping a calendar, finalizing webinar descriptions & info for the registration page, and preparing webinar presentation materials.
Partner with PEP’s marketing & social media contractor to develop and review content for weekly e-newsletters and social media posts.
For the Brilliant Futures contract, PEP has been hired to implement a 2-year pilot program at an elementary school in Montgomery County, MD. PEP will coordinate outreach and efforts to enroll the families of the kindergarten students, inform parents about the Program’s benefits, and support families through regular educational events. This work will involve interacting with parents speaking several languages other than English, including Spanish, Vietnamese, and French.
The Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Program Director and the school staff to:
Design and produce information sessions (online and in-person during summer and fall 2024) for parents and guardians of Kindergarten students to answer questions and assist with enrollment.
Plan and execute a variety of outreach methods to contact and enroll all eligible families, including in-person presence at the school, phone calls, etc.
Serve as a main PEP connection in the school, forging collaborative relationships with school staff and parents/caregivers to create a supportive community environment.
Coordinate monthly programs and gatherings for parents to inform them about Brilliant Futures, ongoing PEP programs we will offer to school families, and connect them with needed resources.
Track enrollment and coordinate with school staff to keep family information updated. Follow MCPS privacy and data requirements.
Gather data to report to the funder, including program activity highlights & attendance, enrollment updates, and testimonials to share the impact on families.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a drive to serve others.
Excellent attention to detail, organized and proficient at managing multiple projects at a time.
Language proficiency in Spanish (preferred), Vietnamese or French.
Strong knowledge of Word, Excel, and Zoom. Google Suite/Docs and Canva are a plus.
Ability to work within a team and collaborate with others.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Ability to drive (must possess a valid driver’s license) and have consistent access to a vehicle.
Schedule
This is a full-time position with a flexible mix of remote, in-office (1 day/week), and time spent on-site at the school (estimated 3-5 days per month). Most hours will be Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, however there will be occasional evening hours required during peak program delivery.
Attendance is required for bi-weekly staff meetings on Wednesday afternoons, with one staff meeting held in-person each month at our office in Kensington, MD.
PEP is a family friendly work environment that offers flexibility to working parents and caregivers.
Travel
The Coordinator is expected to travel around the area for presentations and participate in school events on the organization's behalf.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Most of the work is performed in your home or office and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment (keyboard, copy machine, printer). Must have the ability to lift and carry small/medium parcels, packages and other items, walk short distances, climb stairs, and drive a vehicle to attend events. Must be able to carry, setup, breakdown, and manage event displays for in-person events.
Salary
Salary range is $43,000 to $45,000 and is commensurate with experience. Benefits include paid time off for vacation, personal days and federal holidays, health insurance, and free access to PEP programs.
Anticipated Timeline
We will begin Zoom interviews in May and expect to do at least one in-person interview at our office in Kensington, MD.
