Job Description Job Description PRIMARY OBJECTIVE: To design and engineer solutions to customer and bid requirements utilizing a combination of company and vendor manufactured equipment. This design will result in a system that meets the criteria of the customer specifications and meets the technical and policy requirements of the company. Own the responsible for compliance with customer requirements, and for directing the implementation of the system design through system acceptance.  Create proposals in response to customer RFP and RFI’s.

Designs and/or directs design of major radio systems.

Determines any modifications/equipment needed that support the bids and proposals effort using Excel spreadsheets.

Provides technical support to Project Management, Sales, and Proposal teams.

Key contributor on proposal teams.

Travels to potential customer sites on a worldwide basis to ascertain “location specific” problems related to system design, such as any potential frequency related interferences.

Travels to customer sites on a worldwide basis to ensure system is being implemented as specified, to make modifications as required, and to assist in system acceptance.

Conducts or directs Site Surveys.  Determines location of equipment, materials needed to satisfy customers’ needs, as well as any potential issues that could surface.

Troubleshoots or directs the troubleshooting of system-related issues.

Meets with related engineering departments to ensure proper modifications are met. Assists in keeping project on schedule.

Interfaces with customer/vendor/subcontractor, as required, to meet goals.

Conducts vendor product analysis.

Performs special projects as directed by department manager.

Assists in negotiation process of systems sales.

Interfaces daily with departmental and non-departmental co-workers and managers, including Transmission and Application Engineers, Bids and Proposals and Project Management teams, Staging, Purchasing and Finance.

Supports various departments as the design process is completed, including the final support documentation handoff to customer services.

Estimated travel: Up to 50%

Exhibits desirable and appropriate professional behavior including leadership, sense of urgency, independent judgement, teamwork, ability to get along with others, creative thinking and personal integrity to provide for a cohesive, productive unit dedicated to the achievement of corporate goals.
