Director of Sales
Turf Hotels, Inc. is looking for an energetic sales hunter for the Staybridge Suites Albany. As a Director of Sales , you will fill a vital role by implementing the sales and marketing efforts of the hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop new business (group, transient, and room rental bookings) through obtaining accounts from competition, continuing development of existing accounts and contacting new customers in the market.
Develops & maintain relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.
Maintain close relations with the major accounts, tourism, business associations, and community leaders to develop positive rapport and ensure repeat business.
Understands the overall market - competitors' strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.
Conducting site tours for clients, showing rooms, meeting rooms and public spaces; both walk-ins and scheduled.
Prospecting of new and existing business should be through a combination of traveling locally, cold calls, sales appointments, emails, and events.
Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked from beginning to end (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).
Monitor room inventory and rate programs be knowledgeable of occupancy, average rate, and REVPAR goals.
Analyze weekly sales reports and provide constructive feedback to sales managers to improve performance and efficiencies.
Have a strategy and goal meeting with your General Manager once a week to inform them of potential opportunities/concerns with clients.
Work with your General Manager in preparing the annual sales and marketing budget. Update action plans and financial objectives quarterly.
Participates in Revenue Management strategies using such tools as Star reports, demand analysis and applicable front office reports.
Must have a winning attitude of service for our guests, clients and the hotel teams.
Gains understanding of the location's primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution.
Accept leadership responsibilities by modeling proper selling techniques, effective development and accountability of their sales coordinators and commitments to industry and personal development.
Creating creative marketing strategies for the hotel to boost revenue
Organizes, maintains, and tracks sales data
Initiate and follow up on leads within 24 hours
Complete requests from your General Manager and Corporate, as needed
Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives.
REQUIREMENTS:
Previous hotel-related experience, sales management experience in hotel or service industry, experience in budgeting and business planning is required.
Must be competent in computer skills (Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, data base).
Possess a working knowledge of Meeting Broker, STS, Opera, IHG sales tools, resources, contacts and reports.
Background in automated sales office systems is preferred
Capability to work in a fast-paced environment
Must have exceptional communication skills
Must be professional in appearance and demeanor
While this position is Monday - Friday, weekends and holidays may be required based on the business needs.
