The Department of Laboratory Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a **Manager of Program Operations in Hematopathology** .

**WORK SCHEDULE**

+ Bachelor's Degree in Science, Business, or other related fields. Experience may substitute for education.

+ Four years clinical laboratory work experience with demonstrated progressive leadership experience to include lead and supervisor responsibilities that includes but not limited to human resource, payroll, strategic operations development, etc. **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** Operational/Technical Duties:

+ Manages operations for the HP pre and post-analytical section, interacting in a professional manner to facilitate the pre and post-analytic phases of laboratory testing.

+ Ensures that the manual and all procedures are kept up to date and utilized by all staff.

+ Develop projects aimed at improving operations and responds to administrative directives from the Medical Centers, department, and division.

+ Develop metrics, analyze and interpret to act upon for process improvements.

+ Collaborates with the technical Health Services Managers and Clinical Supervisors to ensure that division is responding to Department needs and delivering superior service to internal and external clients.

+ Develops projects and coordinate with the Laboratory Medicine Information Technology team to ensure timely completion of all initiatives, software and hardware.

+ Develop, integrates and implements new or revised procedures, protocols and policies into the workplace to ensure quality and high level of standard.

+ Maintains working knowledge of the Laboratory Information System (LIS)/Sunquest, Customer Relationship Management system (hc1.com), Electronic Medical Record (EPIC, Cerner/ORCA), and Hematolopathology databases (HPDB1/HPDB2, Clinical Trials database, Pathways etc.)

+ Works closely with the HP faculty and HSM to coordinate the creation and implementation of policies and procedures addressing division strategic goals.

+ Ensures compliance with all federal, state and outside regulatory regulations as well as accrediting requirements that impact laboratory operations to include but not limited to CAP, FDA, CMS, DOH, etc.Supervisory / Managerial:

+ Interview, hire, and orient new leadership staff to maintain qualified 24-hour workforce coverage.

+ Ensure and hold staff accountable for training, continual education and in-service education for staff.

+ Evaluate performance and deliver timely performance evaluations; provide fair and immediate feedback regarding job performance for staff.

+ Counsel and mentor staff to improve performance; recognize superior performance; develop performance improvement action plans; recommend corrective action as necessary.

+ Hold staff accountable for creating and maintaining a collaborative and blame free environment where accountability is expected and the Service Culture Guidelines are a standard.

+ Build an environment where everyone is empowered to report areas of concern to Management and/or the Department Compliance Officer/Committee.

+ Perform corrective actions up to and including termination.Training/Education:

+ Training and staff awareness including but not limited to compliance, regulatory, safety, pre and post-analytical processes, the need to follow acceptable laboratory policies, etc.

+ Follows established policies and procedures at all times.

+ Ensure staff orient and continually educate and enforce safety standards and maintain a safe environment.

+ Delegate responsibilities, duties, and tasks to optimize the use of staff time, skills, and expertise while ensuring a high quality pre and post-analytical service.

+ Maintains sufficient skill with personal computer hardware and software related to the use of spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and presentation programs that are integral to successful job efforts.

+ Meet regularly with staff to communicate initiatives, expectations, and technical information.Fiscal:

+ Responsible for FTE budgets, supplies, annual budget proposals

+ Interacts with vendors and outside agencies to review and recommend products for potential use in ongoing and developing programs.

+ Management and acquisition of laboratory equipment and inventory.Special Duties:
