Senior Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or other terminal degree who play a significant role in enabling, facilitating, and promoting research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and staff. The rank of Senior Research Scientist is a staff appointment and the most senior level within the research scientist job hierarchy. A Senior Research Scientist may apply his/her effort entirely to research or to a combination of research, training, and lab managerial activities.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Experience managing multiple research projects simultaneously • Experience managing research budgets and research personnel
• Experience managing multiple research projects simultaneously • Experience managing research budgets and research personnel • Technical skills and competencies to conduct quantifiable, meaningful research • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels internal and external to the organization • Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team • Ability to keyboard and utilize various standardized word processing, spreadsheet preparation, presentation software, data analysis and statistics, graphing and illustration software. • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously • Ability to prioritize work, performing assignments with minimal supervision • Ability to develop novel methodologies and to prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) and to train staff to follow laboratory SOPs • At least 10 years of experience studying the cell biology of tumor progression and metastasis
Required Education and/or Experience
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in a relevant research area, and evidence of scholarly work (e.g. scientific publications, scientific grant contributions, etc.)
• A minimum of 8 years of experience working with laboratory animals
Preferred Qualifications
• Work experience in an academic environment
• More than 10 years of wet bench research experience
