Technical Program Manager

Mountain View, CA, United States

About us:

We're a Series A company building intelligent, endearing robots for consumer use at home. The home autonomy space has been dramatically overlooked when it comes to robotics. While the last decade has seen an influx of companies promising self-driving cars and intelligent humanoids, none are delivering these solutions reliably or affordably. Meanwhile, regular people are still stuck spending dozens of hours per week on repetitive household chores.

At Matic, we're leveraging advanced technology to address this problem. We've started by reimagining what autonomous floor cleaning robots can achieve using AI and computer vision with our flagship product. From there, our goal is to continue automating other forms of household labor, shipping realistic, affordable, and privacy-first robots to our users while building iteratively toward more complex tasks and capabilities over time.

About the role:

As the first Technical Program Manager at Matic, you will be an integral part of the company's first consumer robot launch. You will work closely with perception, software, and hardware engineering leadership to develop a comprehensive launch roadmap with focus on aligning prioritization, timelines, and budget.

Reporting to the co-founder, you will work hands-on to define the Program Management function in real-time while consistently driving forward strategic, cross-functional initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a track record of launching consumer hardware products and experience or interest working with computer vision, perception, or AI technology.

What you'll do

Drive cross-functional (product, design, HW, and SW) efforts to define product launch roadmap and long-term timeline

Develop and manage end-to-end project plans to ensure on-time delivery, day-to-day coordination, and quality assurance for a novel consumer product

Identify potential dependencies and implement mitigation strategies, adjusting product timelines as needed

Champion company-wide visibility into planning, development status, risks, etc.

Build and maintain effective communication channels across all cross-functional teams (engineering, supply chain, product, operations, etc.)

Design robust internal and external-facing testing modules to drive product testing at every stage of development

Consolidate, analyze, and socialize feedback to drive product/process improvements

Implement metrics to track development and measure impact for process improvement at scale

Own full product BOM accuracy & communication of changes between design, supply chain, and material planning

What we look for

5+ years of experience in TPM role or equivalent

Proven track record of shipping hardware product(s) in an industry environment (preferably consumer electronics)

Experience in delivering tech programs/products from inception to delivery

Experience in driving large-scale cross-functional efforts, while simultaneously managing multiple priorities

Ability to drive decisions and alignment across cross-functional teams with opposing priorities

Strong verbal and written communication skills; with an ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical teams

Ability to clearly articulate technical requirements and roadblocks faced by product teams

Experience in creating test reports, data analyses, and product briefs for company leadership

Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Ability to thrive under pressure and swiftly navigate ambiguous situations

We'd love to hear from you if...

You are genuinely motivated to help those around you

You are passionate about learning outside of your normal comfort zones

You love diagnosing complex technical issues

You are excited to do great work

If you got to this point, we hope you're feeling excited about this opportunity at Matic! Even if you don't feel that you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We're eager to meet people who are keen to learn and are passionate about what Matic is building. We want to hear how you can contribute to our team in a variety of ways - not just the above boxes.
