Business Development Director
KAI Partners, Inc. (KAIP) is seeking a Business Development Director to direct the execution of the business development vision, strategy, plans, and processes to drive capture, sales, revenue growth, market expansion, and financial objectives to manage and achieve the leadership team's goals. They will also develop proposals for new business opportunities, and collaborate with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development strategies.

Develops and implements a business development strategy that aligns with the company's goals and objectives.
Creates recommendations to the leadership team on vision, strategy, and plans to drive sales to increase revenue.
Follows and implements the KAIP platform to better understand the needs of our customers and clients to build or grow new businesses.
Continuously works to improve processes for business development division and departments.
Collaborates with other members of leadership to increase customer satisfaction with our services, capitalize on base-growth opportunities, and provide a consistent KAIP customer experience.
Identifies and evaluates new markets, partners, channels, and customers.
Develops lead generation by using contacts and relationships within the industry, business environment, and customer base to understand and respond to competition, pricing, and product demand changes.
Oversees the development of capture through proposal submission for new business opportunities.
Collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans.
Conducts research, cultivates relationships and attends events to discover new opportunities.
Manages departmental functions and team members within the division.
Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the department.
Meets quarterly and yearly sales goals.
Manages pipeline and sales forecasting to report to leadership and the company.
Performs related duties as assigned by the President.
Leadership Responsibilities: Mentors and coaches team members.
Creates coalitions to promote the adoption of strategic initiatives.
Leads by example and works by the KAIP Guiding Principles.
Operates with discretion and confidence on business development initiatives.
Actively contributes to procurement and new revenue activities.
Attends events by representing KAIP for new business opportunities.
Understands and drives financial decisions in collaboration with leadership.
Represent KAIP with clients, partners, and the public on a professional platform.
Skills and Qualifications Ability to perform and deliver excellent professional verbal and written communication, including facilitation and presentation to executive stakeholders and large groups.
Ability to gather, organize, package, and deliver business intelligence (data-driven insights, reports recommendations) to support executive and management decisions.
Ability to direct strategy for internal and external customers.
Excellent computer skills, including MS Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook, and a proactive approach to understanding new and emerging technology relevant to growth.
Strong emotional intelligence and political awareness are required for effective communication with senior leaders and regular client visibility.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
Ability to work independently and complete assignments within project parameters, prescribed routines, and accepted practices.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Must be able to complete tasks without relying on others.
Work/Education Experience Bachelor's degree or qualified relevant experience
12+ years of industry experience
5+ or more years of experience directing or managing a team.
Must understand California state government processes, including procurement, as they relate to business development.
Understanding of Federal capture process is a plus.
Understanding of the Shipley Associates framework.
Must understand and have experience using business sales processes and pipelines.
HubSpot knowledge is a plus
Compensation Range: $135,000- $185,000 base salary plus commission and/or bonus based on individual sales and company sales goals
The salary range for this role may vary depending on the specific geographic location where this position is ultimately filled. Several factors, including but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, certifications, pay equity, and organizational needs, are considered when determining the posted salary range. In addition, eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
