ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Mt.Adams Institute has two distinct Corps programs:
VetsWorks - VetsWork is an eleven-month, career development internship program for military veterans interested in the natural resources management, public lands, and environment sector. VetsWork participants are placed at local, state, and federal land management agencies such as the U.S. Forest Service and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service where they provide project support while learning about various career paths. This program offers individual placements and takes place nationally.
Land Stewards - Lands Stewards (LS) is a career development program for young adults, ages 21-30, interested in learning more about public lands and natural resources management. The LS program places participants in a 25-week internship with agencies like the Forest Service, Fish & Wildlife Service and environmental nonprofits throughout Washington and Oregon. Position opportunities include wilderness ranger, trail maintenance and construction, invasive species mitigation and wildlife impact surveys, environment education and volunteer coordination. These projects typically occur May to October and are suitable for individuals interested and/or experienced in working and living outside for extended periods of time.
