Description Vice President of Marketing
Compensation: $225K - $250K
Our client is a venture-backed medical equipment and technology company that helps clinics deliver safe and reliable care to their patients. With its compelling IP, a suite of well-engineered products, cutting-edge technology (in hardware and software), and new leadership, our client is growing and is seeking a seasoned Vice President of Marketing to join their team. This person will leverage strengths in strategy, strategic marketing, market insights, and execution of the marketing mix to elevate and differentiate company efforts to drive increased profitable growth in their space. This individual will report to the CEO.
SUMMARY
The VP of Marketing will serve as the champion to drive revenue growth from new product platforms and market opportunities. This includes unearthing unmet needs of customers, identifying segments and channels to target, developing strategies and value propositions, building and executing the marketing plan to achieve revenue and profitability targets across company’s products and markets/channels. This individual will participate in, collaborate with, and often lead cross-functional teams including R&D, Sales, Engineering, Technology, Customer Service, and Supply Chain to design, optimize, and commercialize products by providing strategic marketing and market development leadership. Duties also include identifying and developing appropriate partnerships with new customers, value chain members, suppliers, and other manufacturers to provide new value in current and new markets.
As the VP, Marketing, you will:
· Create new business-, market- and product-development plans. Contribute to the development and execution of strategic and marketing plans.
· Understand the unmet needs of customers and other members of the various value chains. Guide product- and technology-development efforts based on deep market understanding.
· Perform rigorous category and competitive analyses, segmentation, and targeting, using a variety of primary and secondary research. Articulate value propositions and positioningsfor new markets/new products driven by a focus on end user benefits and total value across the entire value chain.
· Recommend product- and market-specific plans that optimize company profitability, leveraging volume and financial forecasts, and value and pricing versus competitors.
· Work with cross-functional teams (esp. Sales), outside agencies and suppliers.
· Lead all aspects of marketing communications and promotions, with metrics-driven approach to driving business results.
As the VP, Marketing, your background should consist of:
· 15+ years of industry experience in classical marketing from respected companies in MedTech or Healthcare, BioTech/Life Sciences, Tech, or other related industries. Strongly prefer a mix of large- and small-company backgrounds.
· Characteristics : Strategic marketing orientation, ability to work rapidly, ability to effectively influence and communicate well with peers and other cross-functional team members, strong team leadership and project management skills, highly accountable, comfortable leading and driving change, financially savvy with strong P&L understanding, superb communications and presentation skills. Self-starter, driven, collaborative, solid communication skills, team player, solid mix of quantitative/analytical + people skills.
· Experience must include: extensive new product and business development, acquisition and retention marketing, funnel management, breadth and depth in marketing tactics, working with the sales teams.
· Proven track record of conceiving and bringing new products from ideation to commercialization; developing strategy, forecasts, business plan, financial plans, driving profitable revenue growth.
· BA/BS and an MBA.
LOCATION: San Diego, CA.(In-house position at the company’s corporate office)
