What you will be doing The Vice President of Operations, Select Service will provide leadership and expertise to general managers and leadership teams within your assigned portfolio that ensures the successful achievement of stated revenue, financial and operational goals. This role will work with hotel teams, HVMG corporate support teams, and brand partners to ensure that all necessary resources to drive results are activated and that hotels are compliant with brand and HVMG standards. The Vice President of Operations, Select Service will maintain close relationships with owners and asset managers to ensure that operational strategies are always aligned with Owners’ objectives and expectations. This role will develop bench strength in operations leadership by providing career development, coaching and mentoring to the Regional Director(s) of Operations, Area General Managers, General Managers and key department head level managers in order to build a pipeline of future leaders for HVMG.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure that all HV properties have the right management in place to deliver against Key Performance Indicators; provide on-going evaluation of General Managers and department heads.
Accountable for the overall revenue, financial performance and guest satisfaction results across the HV portfolio.
Establish and lead management routines with Corporate Directors of Operations and General Managers to provide leadership and support in the attainment of operational and profitability goals.
Lead bi-weekly meetings / conference calls for hotels in critical care status per the most recent KPI report.
Lead weekly meetings / conference calls with assigned portfolio to review performance of their portfolios:
Key Performance Indicators review results and trends
Weekly Updates – labor trends, staffing issues, etc.
A/R / accounting issues
Primary point of contact with hotel owners and investors for operational matters across all HV hotels; maintain collaborative working relationship with open lines of communication
Lead the development of new operational policies, reports and procedures.
Lead the property level annual business planning and budgeting process.
Negotiate / approve all cross-company hotel related agreements and contracts.
Provide thought-leadership to properties in all operational disciplines.
Attend monthly P&L calls for critical care hotels and other hotels as needed.
Ensure hotels submit timely and accurate reports; support the A/R collection efforts for GM direct reports.
Prepare and deliver performance evaluations for direct reports annually at a minimum; sign off on performance evaluations for all General Managers and Department Heads.
Review all bonuses and raises for salaried staff across all properties; present to CEO for approval.
Assist with the recruitment and selection of all HV General Managers. Ensure that all new HV GMs receive required brand and HV training.
Support a proactive Human Resources function and ensure compliance with all state, federal and local employment and labor laws and regulations.
Provide coaching and feedback to GMs regarding the weekly sales reports as required.
Attend weekly Revenue Management for GM direct reports and other hotel meetings as requested/required.
Ensure all hotels are in compliance with all aspects of brand standards and expectations.
Assist HV President and HV Corporate Executive team with projects, initiatives and corporate directives as required
Actively contribute and make recommendations during creation of pro forma for new projects as assigned; ensure timely execution according to pro forma up to and post opening.
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Hotel/Restaurant or Business Administration, or equivalent education/experience required.
Fifteen years of related hotel experience preferred.
