About Us:

If you are passionate about the ability of American business to improve lives, solve problems, and strengthen society, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is the place for you. As the world’s largest business organization, we believe in building a future that gives everyone the opportunity to pursue a better tomorrow. We make it our job today–and every day–to build the strongest relationships possible among the American people, business leaders, and elected officials in Washington, D.C., state capitals, and countries around the globe. For them and the businesses we represent, the U.S. Chamber is a trusted advocate and partner.

We are driven by the pursuit of innovation and partnership and hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our commitment to our members is matched only by our commitment to our employees. As part of our team, we will support your long-term career development while delivering relevant learning opportunities. We will empower you to lead, develop deep expertise, and find new approaches to solving the toughest challenges.

Position Overview:

The manager will oversee the day-to-day work of the Chamber’s Global Initiative on Health and the Economy (GIHE). The GIHE supports an agenda that focuses on the importance of investment in health care and the role of the private sector in supporting resilient health care systems in foreign markets.

The manager will support the GIHE in developing policy and executing advocacy strategies targeting key multilateral institutions (e.g., WHO, G7, G20, and the World Bank), forums, and markets of commercial importance. This person will also liaise with a broad range of companies, government agencies, foreign embassies, and business associations around the world.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to well-reasoned policy positions on matters of international health relating to global public health; health systems resiliency; pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response; investment in health; innovative financing; antimicrobial resistance; value-based health care; digital health; sustainable access to health products; and other topics as they arise.

Manage program logistics for events, working groups, and meetings with visiting delegations.

Produce op-eds, issue updates, testimony, analysis, and other communications.

Generate advocacy resources and marketing materials for member distribution and liaise with Chamber communications staff to develop outreach strategy.

Work closely with the International Affairs Division regional teams to supplement their policy expertise on key issues and other Chamber teams that are primarily domestic in their orientation.

Help manage research projects.

Oversee relationships with international stakeholders, including industry groups, think tanks, and policymakers.

Help conduct member company outreach and represent the Chamber internationally with government officials, media, stakeholders, and supporters of the global health agenda.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree and 3-5+ years’ policy or strategy work in global health; advanced degree preferred.

Familiarity with the advocacy needs of U.S. companies engaged in international health policy work.

Significant knowledge of commercial markets and multilateral organizations.

Demonstrated success in planning large events and meetings, including international conferences, delegation visits, and grassroots outreach.

Skilled at working with high-level executives and government officials.

Proven strategic planning and execution capabilities.

Ability to anticipate, identify, and analyze emerging issues and develop solutions.

Strong project management skills, including fundraising and budget oversight.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced, demanding environment, either working independently or as part of a team across all levels of the organization.

Flexibility to travel internationally as needed.

We recruit, employ, train, compensate, and promote without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, marital status, status as a protected veteran, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local law.
