Information Technology Support Specialist

Jersey City, NJ, United States

We are seeking an experienced IT Support Specialist to join one of our clients in the Northern Jersey area. This is a hybrid position where you will be working mostly remote until you are needed onsite at a client location in Northern Jersey.

Position Overview: This position is primarily responsible for supporting the network and server infrastructure of managed services customers. The IT Support Specialist is an L2+ technician who will provide both onsite and remote support to assigned clients and will assist with complex technical project execution. This individual will work closely with their partner Manager to develop in-depth knowledge of the customers they jointly support. Customer satisfaction, prompt and successful ticket resolution, and successful project completion are primary objectives of the IT Support Specialist. A successful IT Support Specialist must be personable, enthusiastic, and service-oriented, and must also possess strong technical aptitude with the ability and desire to learn on the job.

Role and Responsibilities:

Promote and represent the corporate culture and core values in all aspects of your job duties.

Develop and maintain knowledge of assigned client networks:

Network snapshot

Hardware and software inventories

Updating configuration records in PSA system

Basic understanding of Line of Business (LOB) applications and associated vendors

Perform regular onsite and remote services in support of your assigned clients:

Check server/network health

Monitor tools/application health

Check logs & maintain backups

Perform restoration tests

Provide L2+ technical support & resolve escalated user issues that reactive support team is unable to address

Develop relationships with clients based on mutual trust and respect

Implement new technology

Onsite proactive services

Assist with execution of complex technical projects:

Utilize understanding of client systems to be part of a team executing projects such as cloud migrations, new server deployments, SAN installations, network rollouts (firewalls, routers, managed switches, wireless access points, etc.)

Assist with onboarding new customers while documenting and assessing their IT systems

Interface with third-party vendors and work closely with them to ensure exceptional support for your clients

Ensure client satisfaction:

Ensure technology is functioning properly; if not, work to understand the root cause and address it at the source.

Coordinate with the Manager and Client Success Manager to implement technology to meet business goals and present a unified team to our clients

Qualifications and Education:

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or technical school) preferred

Experience: Minimum of two years in a technology support environment supporting infrastructure technology and performing project design and delivery. Prior MSP experience strongly preferred.

Computer Skills: L2+ IT generalist skillset required: experience with deploying and administering Windows Server/Active Directory, SQL, SharePoint, VMWare/Hyper-V, WAN/LAN connectivity (switching, routers, firewalls, security, VPN), Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Microsoft 365, Intune, Azure, Entra ID/Azure Active Directory, MSP service delivery tools including RMM and PSA.

Certifications & Licenses: Professional IT Certifications such as MS MCP, MCSA, MCSE, Citrix CCEA or CCIA, SonicWALL CSSA, Cisco CCNA or VMWare VCP are helpful but not required.
