Information Technology (IT) Project Manager
The Office of the Queens County District Attorney (QDA) is currently seeking an Information Technology (IT) Project Manager to oversee and implement a variety of IT projects, as well as to research and implement strategic solutions, at the direction of the Chief Information Technology Officer. The IT Project Manager will be part of QDA’s IT Department that includes a staff of 25 and serves an office of over 750 staff.
The IT Project Manager will be responsible for the management and delivery of a variety of projects and tasks in support of QDA’s overall IT operations including, but not limited to:
Managing and training staff to ensure that project goals and deadlines are met through communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating job results; and initiating, coordinating, and implementing systems, policies, and procedures.
Providing regular updates to the Chief Information Technology Officer and other Executive staff on project status and timeframes.
Maintaining the effectiveness and efficiency of QDA’s IT operations by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic IT management plans for implementing information technologies.
Conducting applicable research by assessing organizational goals, strategies, practices, and user projects.
Successfully completing projects by coordinating resources and timetables with user departments and data center.
Verifying application results by conducting system User Acceptance Testing and audits of implemented solutions and technologies.
Preserving assets by implementing disaster recovery, back-up procedures, and information security and control structures.
Recommending information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; and anticipating requirements.
Preparing project budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating any needed corrective actions.
Maintaining quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards.
Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, as required.
Qualification Requirements:
Qualified candidates must have a permanent New York City computer-related civil service title in order to be considered for this position.
Qualified candidates must have a Baccalaureate Degree or the equivalent education and experience. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, multi-tasking capabilities, work well under pressure, manage competing priorities and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a master's degree in computer science or related field from an accredited college and three years of progressively more responsible, full-time experience in computer applications programming, systems programming, computer systems development, data telecommunications, database administration, planning of data/information processing, user services, area networks, or related area, and at least 18 months of this experience must have been in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity.
Preference will also be given to candidates with prior experience in technical management, technical analysis, data center management, developing project budgets, strategic planning, and IT quality management.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is also preferred.
