Position Overview for the Health Information Specialist II:
Monitor and Maintain Data Integrity : Continuously monitor systems for data quality, efficiency, operation, and integrity. Identify errors, omissions, and duplications in clinical charts and notify appropriate parties for corrections.
System Analysis and Workflow Development : Assist in system analysis and develop new workflow processes and applications. Document these processes to ensure streamlined workflow, improved efficiency, and strengthened quality assurance.
Policy Implementation and Enforcement : Direct, implement, and update policies, procedures, and protocols to enhance workflow, efficiency, and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
Coordination and Communication : Work closely with business and clinical operation teams to obtain or create workflow documentation. Coordinate the merging of medical records across systems and physical charts, ensuring complete accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures.
Required Skills for the Health Information Specialist II: Technical Expertise : Proficient in Epic EHR and EMPI systems, with experience in potential duplicate patient matching and reviewing patient demographic errors. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience and Education : Minimum of 1 year of recent relevant experience. High school diploma or equivalent education/experience is required; equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills : Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions. Keen problem-solving ability to handle unforeseen scenarios and efficiently switch between tasks.
Communication and Compliance : Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey sensitive information clearly and professionally. Strong understanding of patient privacy policies and legislation, such as HIPAA, to maintain strict confidentiality of all patient protected health information (PHI).
