Varsity Tutors, a Nerdy company, is looking for a Director of Project Management to support our VP of Operations and relentlessly drive the execution of key business objectives for multiple teams. The individual in this role will help prioritize the work and initiatives of several Operations, Product, and Engineering teams, and do whatever is needed to ensure targets are achieved and timelines are met. The Director of Project Management will help support the execution of the vision and experience across our suite of learning products and in our tutor marketplace. This role is a unique opportunity to work at the highest levels of the organization, collaborating closely with leadership to drive initiatives, manage projects, and ensure effective and fast execution of our strategic goals.

Responsibilities

Project Management

Drive relentless execution of the company's key initiatives, driving alignment, action, and results across all levels of the organization

Rigorously track progress toward goals and unblock anything getting in the way of achieving project milestones and objectives

Align with team leaders to translate high-level objectives into concrete, actionable steps for operating teams and ensure high-quality execution of each step

Break down complex problems into manageable tasks and ensure clear understanding and execution by respective teams. Drive adherence to these plans

Prioritization & Planning:

Drive the establishment and adherence to operating rhythms and mechanisms that ensure correct prioritization of work and initiatives across all teams, with the ability to ignore the status-quo if the status-quo isn’t working

Facilitate the measurement and achievement of KPIs through effective planning mechanisms

Challenge status quo, disrupt complacency, and ruthlessly push for better approaches to deliver results

Coordination & Communication:

Serve as a central point of contact for communication between the VP of Operations and various team leaders within the organization

Facilitate effective communication flow, including agenda setting and follow-up on action items

Work with relentless focus and urgency, and infuse the same sense of urgency across all team members

Ensure clarity of priorities among teams within the organization and maintain synchronization in cross-functional projects

Drive accountability through diligent follow-ups on action items and next steps

Responsible for ensuring proactive updates and enhancing visibility across the organization, and/or ensuring others do so

Work across functional boundaries and coordinate cross functional work / teams

Analytical:

Understand business drivers and assist in identifying or auditing KPIs to ensure alignment with organizational objectives

Assist in the creation of basic metric-based reports or dashboards to provide greater visibility into key projects and objectives

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master's degree is a plus)

Proven experience in a similar project management or operations role, preferably at a high-growth tech organization

Exceptional project management skills and organizational abilities

Creative problem solver who can think big and find the most effective way to deliver results, regardless of the obstacles

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Proficiency in using productivity tools and software

Superior analytical and quantitative skills; experience getting and using data and metrics to test theories, confirm assumptions, and measure success

Unwavering bias for action and the desire and ability to drive results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously

Proven ability to identify, analyze, and solve ambiguous problems with high attention to detail

Experience with agile and working closely with designers and engineers to drive feature definition and implementation
