Associate Director - Translational Biomarker (Immunology)
Waltham, MA, United States
Associate Director (Principal Investigator) – Translational Biomarker (Immunology)
We are seeking an experienced translational scientist to lead the design and execution of biomarker strategies supporting our early and late-stage research programs. The candidate will develop translational biomarker approaches that measure target engagement, pharmacodynamics, and disease pathology. As a strategic leader within a multidisciplinary team, the candidate will ensure that biomarker strategies align with the most current understanding of inflammatory disease biology and enable early clinical proof-of-concept. This role involves a hands-on approach in the pre-clinical validation of these approaches using disease biospecimens. This is a unique opportunity to work at the interface of discovery and development while championing biomarker initiatives that directly impact novel clinical study design.
Responsibilities :
Spearhead the creation and execution of translational biomarker strategies to evaluate proof of mechanism, detect early efficacy signals, and facilitate proof-of-concept studies
Work closely with preclinical scientists to design and carry out translational research aimed at validating biomarker approaches
Coordinate with research and clinical teams to integrate biomarker discoveries into early clinical study designs
Supervise the clinical validation of biomarker assays and collaborate with clinical pharmacology to analyze clinical biomarker studies
Actively contribute to the discovery pipeline as a key biology team member
Requirements :
PhD in Immunology with a minimum of 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
Proven experience in small molecule drug discovery and program leadership
Expertise in identifying and validating pharmacodynamic and disease biomarkers, along with their clinical application
Capability to guide and influence projects from discovery through early clinical development, focusing on identifying indications and formulating biomarker strategies for early proof-of-concept
Exceptional analytical, research, and organizational abilities
Excellent interpersonal, influencing, and collaboration skills
Proficient in prioritizing tasks, highly productive, and adaptable in a dynamic, team-oriented environment
Ability to effectively communicate scientific findings to a wide range of audiences
Additional Notes :
Candidates must have excellent communication and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to act as a clinical biomarker lead and a strategic thought partner
Candidates must be within driving distance to MA or willing to relocate
Ideal candidates should have around 3-4 years of experience at the Principal Scientist level and demonstrate advanced leadership capabilities
The ability to communicate sophisticated biomarker strategies effectively is crucial
Candidates should possess the communication and management skills of a project leader
