Role Summary
The Department of Research and Translational Medicine is seeking a Principal Scientist, Translational Biomarkers. This person will have direct experience in biomarker selection and execution strategies in support of clinical development of programs. This is an on-site position based in the Apogee lab in the Seaport district in Boston.
Key Responsibilities
In this highly collaborative role, you will work closely with members in Research and Translational Medicine to define the translational biomarker strategies using flow cytometry, multiplex assays, proteomics, and genomics-based tools for programs in early discovery phase.
You will work closely with preclinical teams on biomarker strategies and readouts for building data packages for discovery and translational research programs.
Lead the selection and management of external CROs (clinical research organizations) for procurement of clinical samples for discovery and translational biomarker efforts using omics, proteomics, and data mining tools.
Establish relationships with CROs to execute the strategy including qualification of novel matrices, transfer in-house assays, monitor assay qualification/validation and biomarker testing from patient samples to ensure high quality biomarker data.
Oversee development and analysis of biomarker data generation using multiple platforms including gene expression, soluble/fluid and flow-cytometry based tools.
Conduct experiments in the lab to assess assay feasibility, design and undertake experiments to troubleshoot assay performance issues.
Contribute to biomarker sections of all regulatory documents, including INDs and other study related documents.
Ideal Candidate
PhD with a minimum of 6 years of pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience.
Extensive experience in clinical biomarker strategy and execution, deep understanding of drug development stages and role for biomarkers.
Experience in I&I indications.
Expertise in overseeing flow cytometry, genomics, and protein (LBA) based assays for biomarker discovery and development.
Highly experienced in leading and collaborating effectively as a member of cross-functional teams, excellent communication skills to drive projects and manage timelines and budget, and present to a variety of stakeholders and tailor message accordingly.
Enjoys fast paced environment, flexible, able to manage multiple and competing priorities under tight timelines.

Ability and willingness to travel including a minimum of 6 times per year for All Hands meetings and other workshops.
Ability and willingness to work on-site at the Apogee lab in Boston.
The anticipated salary range for candidates for this role will be $185,000-200,000/year. The final salary offered will depend on several factors, which may include, but is not limited to relevant years of experience, educational background, and geography.
