Position Overview:
In collaboration with the CTSNet Managing Editor, process and publish submitted content (articles, videos, event postings) on CTSNet.org: write, edit and proofread content and marketing/promotional copy; coordinate two e-newsletters; monitor, write, post on CTSNet social media channels; support individual CTSNet site users, industry representatives, volunteer surgeon leaders, and other stakeholders.
Position Responsibilities:
Process, manage subject matter expert review of, proofread, and publish submitted content, create new web pages as necessary within the CTSNet.org content management system.
Copyedit and proofread content and marketing copy for CTSNet.org and CTSNet communications.
Write and copy edit articles, website text, and promotional copy.
Review for quality a high volume of in-depth surgical videos.
Select appropriate imagery and adheres to brand guidelines and internal style guide.
Coordinate two weekly e-newsletters, including both soliciting and developing content for them.
Make social media posts on a variety of channels, including identifying/editing images and writing copy.
Support CTSNet's social media presence by tracking related organizations and influencers.
Assist with the regular auditing of the look, organization, and utility of CTSNet.org, and make recommendations for modifications and enhancements.
Assist in staffing the CTSNet exhibit booth at major cardiothoracic surgery events as needed.
Experience and Skills
Position Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on digital media, communications, journalism, web-based publishing, or a related field is preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Minimum of 1 year of experience in editorial and content development for a busy website required
Experience writing and editing content for the web strongly preferred
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading abilities
High attention to detail
A strong sense of visual design
Proficiency with a content management system such as WordPress
Working knowledge of email marketing systems such as iContact and MailChimp
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Excellent organizational, planning, and follow-through capabilities
Ability to multitask and manage several projects simultaneously
Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with coworkers, volunteer leaders, other organizations, and industry contacts; tact, diplomacy, and good judgment
Positive attitude in the workplace
Flexibility and adaptability to changing daily activities and schedules
Ability to travel, as necessary
