Our Hiring Process

Position Summary

The Vice President, Lending Operations is responsible for providing leadership and day-to-day management oversight of all lending functions, including consumer and real estate lending, indirect lending and loan services (collections). This position works closely with the Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer to plan and direct the credit union’s lending programs in support of the credit union’s strategic goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

Assist the Senior Vice President, Chief Lending Officer in all aspects related to the oversight and efficient operation of the lending department, which includes consumer lending, indirect lending, real estate lending and loan services.

Participate in developing long-range strategies, as well as managing projects and day-to-day operations of the lending department.

Lead and direct all consumer, indirect, and real estate loan activities, including origination, processing, underwriting, closing/funding, and servicing.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing legislative and regulatory climate, develop and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with current laws and regulations.

Assist the Chief Lending Officer with preparing the annual department budget, negotiating and making changes to new and existing contracts.

Research and recommend new products and services, process improvements, expense reductions, and income generating ideas to contribute to the overall profitability of the credit union and improve member engagement.

Responsible for the development, training, and motivation of department managers and staff; identify opportunities for training and development to increase employee engagement and morale.

Responsible for the hiring, counseling, performance evaluation, training, cross training, motivation, and discipline of all department personnel.

Set, monitor and achieve indirect, consumer, and mortgage loan production goals in support of the credit union’s goals and revenue objectives.

Research and evaluate feasibility of new lending products. Develop and implement plans for expansion of lending programs.

Keep abreast of innovations in the industry and changing trends in lending and make recommendations to maintain relevancy.

Ensure strong internal service and support from assigned teams, work with leaders across the organization to facilitate effective collaboration and resource coordination across teams.

Develop and update underwriting criteria consistent with the credit union’s risk tolerance.

Monitor compliance with underwriting and effectiveness of established criteria to mitigate losses.

Analyze delinquent loans for loan modifications or charge-off recommendations consistent with prudent lending and collections practices, and applicable laws and regulations.

Develop and review accurate reporting procedures on collection activities. Prepare and analyze reports for senior management and/or the board of directors.

Ensure that the credit and collection policies and procedures of the credit union best serve the credit union and its members.

Collaborate with and support Business Intelligence and Data Analytics initiatives.

Support and actively participate in all credit union training sessions and complete required training assignments.

Comply with all federal and state laws, organizational policies, procedures and processes, including (but not limited to) those related to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Identity Theft Red Flags, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC). Performs related responsibilities, as required.

Non-Essential Functions

Performs special projects and other responsibilities, as assigned.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Skills

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management or other related business discipline required.

Experience: Five years’ experience in a management capacity required. Knowledge of the credit union industry, consumer lending, indirect lending programs, real estate lending and collections rules and regulations required.

Skills and Abilities: Strong relationship builder and communicator with experience leading diverse work teams. Excellent written and oral communications and cross functional project management skills required. Must be a self-starter who is able to follow projects through to completion with little supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in computer programs, i.e., Microsoft Office, and knowledge of Symitar Episys software system preferred.

Travel Required: Limited local travel required. Travel during assigned shifts requires ability to operate personal vehicle.

Hours Required: Exempt employee with a work schedule of Monday through Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hours may fluctuate moderately to accommodate business needs.
