Senior System Administrator

As an integral part of the company’s IT team, the purpose of this position is to provide maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of the group’s IT systems with a strong focus on the AMER region. Duties will include installing hardware, software and participating in research and development to continuously improve and keep up with the IT business needs of the company worldwide. He/She will actively resolve problems and issues with computer and server systems to limit work disruptions across geographies.
QUALIFICATIONS / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and five (5) years equivalent work experience.
EXPERIENCE: In lieu of a college diploma or university degree, 8-10 years equivalent work experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Analyzes information to determine and recommend new computers and peripheral equipment, and to plan for their layout and configuration.
Provides “ownership” of problems through final resolution.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
Modifies or configures existing equipment and systems to meet ever-changing requirements.
Directly supervises 1 junior employee
Actively collaborates with the company’s cross-geographical IT team
Work with partners/vendors as needed to implement solutions or resolve issues.
Provide expert 3rd tier support to employees as needed.
Assist with procurement for new, IT related hardware and software.
Logs all activity in IT ticketing system. Responsible for tracking and closing tickets assigned. Accurately document all information of solution to issues in the tickets.
Create and maintain documentation in group wiki solution.
Follow all safety regulations
Must be comfortable with flexible work schedules and 24/7 rotating on call availability.
Perform other job duties as assigned with a high degree of flexibility and professionalism
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Expert knowledge of Active Directory and related components
Expert knowledge of backup software/disaster recovery (i.e Veeam)
Expert knowledge of implementing security in a mixed-use environment
Expert knowledge of Windows 10, Server 2012, 2016 & Server 2019
Expert knowledge of virtual environments, specifically VMware
Working technical knowledge of SAN technology (i.e. Synology, EMC)
Working technical knowledge of Database technologies – Microsoft SQL Server
Working technical knowledge of Microsoft Cloud technologies – Azure, Office 365
Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards, including TCP/IP, Fast Ethernet, RSP, VPNs, 802.1x, etc.
Outstanding customer service skills
Ability to interact with all levels of staff including senior management
Able to work independently AND as part of a global team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Strong attention to detail
