Description
The Accounting Manager position is responsible for journal ledger, fixed assets module, and research and development accruals. Analyze financial results and reconcile balance sheet accounts. This position will be an integral part of the month-end close. The position interfaces with all levels of management, as well as represents the Company to individuals outside of the organization including external auditors.
Responsibilities
Prepare/review journal entries and monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts in accordance with GAAP and ensure all reconciliations have the highest degree of accuracy.
Lead and coordinate research and development accrual process and recording including maintain clinical (CRO) and preclinical accrual model with the highest degree of accuracy.
Coordinate with various departments and maintain fixed assets module in ERP.
Lead monthly close and responsible for the closing calendar.
Responsible for stock-based compensation (SBC) calculation including SBC assumptions and analyzing SBC spending to ensure accuracy.
Prepare monthly/quarterly comprehensive fluctuation analysis.
Support the quarterly review and annual audit with the external audit team and support tax reporting requirements.
Assist with the SOX 404 compliance processes and ensure processes and procedures including providing updates to the Company’s process narratives, policies, and flowcharts.
Works in a team-based environment to issue timely, accurate, and complete financial statements on a monthly/quarterly basis.
Assist with compiling support for 10-Q and 10-K filings as needed.
Perform other duties or ad hoc projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA is a plus.
5+ years of progressive experience, preferably in the biotechnology industry and/or publicly traded company.
Advanced Microsoft Excel spreadsheet skills.
Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Experience with E*Trade, NetSuite or comparable ERP systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
Ability to multi-task and meet demanding deadlines.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in our San Diego location is between $120,000- $140,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
