A small to mid-sized Chicago Loop law firm specializing in defense coverage, insurance coverage and litigation is seeking an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our growing firm. The Accounts Receivable Specialist supports the Finance team in the collection and follow-up of client receivables across the Firm. The Accounts Receivable Specialist assists attorneys with monitoring, tracking, and collecting of past-due balances, interfacing directly with clients on collections as requested. This position requires extensive contact with the Firms billing partners and legal secretaries. The Accounts Receivable Specialist always provides the highest level of professionalism and customer service. The Accounts Receivable Specialist regularly collaborates with the Billing department to help minimize any financial exposure to the Firm.
The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Key Responsibilities
· Manage account balances to discover outstanding debts or other inconsistencies
· Send reminders for payments and contact customers when assigned
· Answer questions and handle complaints from customers regarding account receivables
· Report on activity to upper management with account receivable issues
Requirements and Qualifications
• At least one year of previous law firm experience in collections or billing
• At least one year of Aderant Expert (Sierra Expert/EA Pro)
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow instructions
• Proficient in MS Office (Word, especially Excel)
• Working knowledge of e-billing sites such as Bottomline, Tymetrix 360, Legal Solutions, Acuity, Serengeti (Legal Tracker), CounselLink, Collaborati, Ascent, Legal Cost, etc.
• Willingness to learn any new systems that the client may transition to
• Excellent math ability
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Works with a sense of urgency
· Works well with others in a team environment with a positive attitude
· Maintains a high level of confidentiality at all times
• Ability to work with a diverse customer client base
This position is in the office 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday- 35-hour workweek.
