Job Description:
Vertex Pharmaceutical's Cell Process Development team is looking for a Laboratory Operations Specialist. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a lab supporting scientist by maintaining lab equipment and making sure the lab is in order for proper use.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Support lab operations, lab maintenance, and equipment maintenance.
Support pluripotent stem cell culture and differentiation processes by preparing media and other commonly used reagents and contributing to experimental design and execution for process development team.
Organize, coordinate, and document equipment maintenance events (repair, PM, etc.) by working collaboratively with equipment end users, facilities team, lab services, and EHS.
Contribute to authoring equipment operation and maintenance SOPs.
Support a fully integrated team to facilitate smooth lab function and experimental execution.
Work within departmental teams, support deliverables and participate in team discussion on lab operations-related issue identification and resolution.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience with cell culture and aseptic processing equipment, such as BSC, incubator, micropipettes, etc. Lab management and/or equipment maintenance experience preferred.
Experience with 2D and/or 3D mammalian cell culture and aseptic processing.
Strong organizational skills and proactive in identifying rooms for improvements in lab operations and maintenance.
Good communication skills to coordinate scheduling and communicate equipment status updates within the team and across other supporting functional groups.
Willingness to learn, contribute, and support lab functions, with a team-oriented attitude.
Ability to follow detailed instructions and to maintain detailed and accurate records and notes.
Must be skilled in the Windows operating system and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in Biology, Biochemical engineering, or a related discipline is required with ?2 years relevant experience.
Pay Range:
$30-$40/hr
