Description
The Interpretation and Translation Program Coordinator will work closely with the Director of Interpretation and Translation Services and support YWCA's language access and equity work including helping coordinate interpretation and translation services, building the customer base of businesses and organizations utilizing YWCA interpretation and translation services, co-teaching a community interpretation training program, and providing training and advocacy on language access and equity in the community.
Principal Responsibilities and Duties
Interpretation and Translation Services
Provide day-to-day management of interpretation and translation requests and cancellations with the support of the Supervisor to ensure requests are correctly and timely processed and completed.
Assist in processing documents and contracts for the recruitment of contract interpreters and translators and ensure timely renewal of existing contracts.
Assist in processing contracts and answering questions for new customers (clients/vendors) and timely renew existing contracts.
Train contractors and customers in the use of the online request system and troubleshoot problems.
Support the Director in ensuring timely payment of contract interpreters and translators and timely receipt of payments from customers.
Estimate and negotiate rates of translation projects with customers as needed.
Check in and update the Director as needed on new clients, unusual requests, challenges with interpreters, and other items as they arise.
Directly provide interpretation, translation, and proofreading services.
Attend training and professional development opportunities to continuously improve skills and bring information back to train staff and the community.
Provides technical support to interpreters, translators, and clients for assignments as needed.
Follow YWCA interpretation and translation policy and procedures
Interpretation Training Attend the Community Interpreter Train the Trainer Program if not already a certified trainer.
Co-teach the 40-hour interpreter training program (at least two cohorts a year).
Coordinate language proficiency tests for students.
Work with partners to identify volunteer opportunities for practical training for participants.
Language Advocacy and Other Duties Work with the Director to provide training and support to area organizations and businesses on laws, regulations, and best practices on language access and support for clients.
Order supplies and materials.
Follow processes and coordinate with the marketing team to promote interpretation services, training, and other events
Coordinate logistics for events such as training and graduation ceremonies.
Requirements Fluency: must have native-level proficiency in a minimum of two languages.
Certification in a nationally recognized 40-hour interpretation program or its equivalent.
National interpretation certification preferred.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to present possible solutions to supervisor.
Ability to manage multiple assignments and a dynamic work environment.
Dedication to ethical codes and practices to ensure confidential and sensitive information remains secure and protected.
Must be an advocate for the mission and vision of the YWCA.

Current Oklahoma Driver's license and current insurance verification.
Education/Experience: High school diploma, advanced education preferred.
Equivalent education from outside the U.S. is accepted.
At least two years of experience as an interpreter and translator.
2+ years of relevant professional experience, including knowledge of one or more of the key areas of the function (service coordination, customer service, marketing, community outreach)
Experience training adult learners preferred.
Familiarity with Google Docs/Google Apps and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required.
Preferred: familiarity with the medical interpreting profession, legal, Education in business, marketing, communications or related field, or equivalent work experience.
Salary Description
$44,000 - $52,000 /annually
