Chief Development Officer

The Chief Development Officer is the key management leader of Hospitality House of Tulsa, a Christian faith-based nonprofit. This position is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fiscal management, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. The position reports directly to the President and CEO.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Financial Performance and Viability : Develops resources and relationships sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.
A. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Hospitality House of Tulsa, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
B. Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
Leverages multiple revenue channels such as fundraisers, in-kind donations, sponsorships, employer, and church-based support to establish and grow development opportunities.
C. Responsible for fundraising, including grant writing, and developing other resources necessary to support Hospitality House of Tulsa’s mission.
Oversees planning, fundraising, and operation of $1.5M annual budget.
2) Organization Mission and Strategy : Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
A. Responsible for implementation of Hospitality House of Tulsa’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.
B. Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that Hospitality House of Tulsa can successfully fulfill its mission into the future.
C. Responsible for the enhancement of Hospitality House of Tulsa’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic, and private organizations.
Serves as Hospitality House of Tulsa’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media, and the general public.
Establishes and maintains relationships with various organizations throughout the state and utilizes those relationships to strategically enhance Hospitality House of Tulsa’s mission.
Oversees marketing and other communication efforts.
3) Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.
A. Responsible for effective administration of Hospitality House of Tulsa operations.
Supervises and collaborates with organization staff.
B. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
Establishes employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.
C. Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
Reviews and approves contracts for services.
4) Board Governance : Works with board to fulfill the organization mission.
A. Responsible for leading Hospitality House of Tulsa in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Trustees.
B. Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Oversees organization’s Board and committee meetings.
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.
Actual Job Responsibilities:
Planning, fundraising, and operation of $1.5M annual budget.
Leading grant writing and donor development engagement activity.

Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.

Reporting to and working closely with the Board of Trustees to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the Foundation throughout the state.

Reviewing and approving contracts for services.
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.
Professional Qualifications:
Christian, faith-based leader with spiritual maturity
Demonstrated strategic fundraising capabilities and strong donor relations unique to nonprofit sector; at or above 850k campaign(s) highly preferred.
Work collectively for the mission and truly live the values of nonprofit ministry including Biblical Hospitality, Love, Faith, Compassion and Excellence.
A bachelor’s degree with nonprofit certifications
Transparent and high integrity leadership
Five or more years senior nonprofit management experience
Solid, hands-on, budget management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.
Ability to convey a vision of Hospitality House of Tulsa’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
Strong organizational abilities including strategic planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
Skills and experience in staff development
Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to interface and engage diverse volunteer and donor groups.
Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
Strong public speaking ability
