Our school and community-based therapy, prevention and leadership development programs support young people to individually and collectively address causes of substance abuse, grief and trauma while building social-emotional, career and social change skills. In addition to working directly with young people, we train, coach and advocate for youth-serving institutions like Chicago Public Schools to be restorative and trauma-informed.
Position Overview:
The Compliance Specialist supports external site visits and compliance, internal evaluation, and database management at Alternatives, Inc. The position implements changes in workflow guides, databases, and agency processes to meet evolving compliance needs. The compliance specialist ensures Alternatives meets contract requirements and outcomes in partnership with executive and leadership teams. The position is a full-time position. The compliance specialist is supervised by the compliance administrator.
Responsibilities:
Perform the following from a racial, gender, sexuality, and ability equity lens:
Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly data reporting to internal and external stakeholders on progress towards grant and program goals and outcomes
Provide database technical assistance to Alternatives staff. Interface with the staff to answer questions as they arise. In conjunction with the supervisor, maintain a log of issues
Support annual contract program plans
Ensure that program plans (specifically outcomes) meet contractual requirements
Work with supervisor, manager of data and program evaluation, directors and program managers to ensure accurate and timely data collection for proposals and reports
Prepare for all site visits and audits with executive and leadership team for grants, contracts, and licenses
Build positive relationships with funders, public contracts, and officials
Represents Alternatives to public entities/private subcontractors
Maintain public and subcontract files in an organized and manageable way to allow for data collection, reporting, and renewals
Provide clear and concise instructions to Program staff on contract requirements, reporting instructions, and data collection
Ensure Alternatives meets contract requirements and outcomes in partnership with executive and leadership teams
Determine reporting requirements and ways to collect and submit required data.
Establish and maintain Continuous Quality Improvement processes for all programs
Help develop, support and model a positive and productive workplace culture and emphasis based on equity, respect and inclusion
Proactively share new information through all levels of the organization.
Build positive workplace relationships and work as a collaborative and reliable team member within the Alternatives
Perform other related duties as apparent or assigned
Requirements
2-4 years of experience in human services, social work, business or public administration, education, or other related fields or equivalent experience.
Able to design, implement, and ensure grant and contract compliance.
Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and awareness of, as well as commitment to, contemporary issues of inclusion, diversity, access, and equity.
Cultural competency with BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth.
Interest and commitment to working in a community-based youth service agency.
Innovative problem-solving abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with diverse internal and external constituents.
Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct multiple projects and activities with varied deadlines.
