The Quality Assurance Fellow, reporting to the Chair of the Department of Radiology and CAO, oversees quality assurance and training program for the Radiology department. This role will be distinct in scope as it relates to technical staff and trainee quality assurance program development and adherence. There will be collaboration with the Vice Chair of Quality as it relates to identification of opportunities to improve the quality assurance. The incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and safety of all Radiology examinations. Review and update protocols, conduct audits, and providing ongoing training and support to all Departmental technologists.

This key leadership position will play a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and optimizing the quality and safety of imaging. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of imaging technology and education with a proven track record.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive quality assurance program for The Department of Radiology, including policies, procedures, learning tutorials, practice scanning labs, interesting case reviews, new hire onboarding assessment, and technologist performance metrics.

Collaborate with radiologists, sonographer practitioners and departmental leadership for protocol compliance, standardization, and image improvement.

Conduct regular exam audits and assessments of processes, and documentation to identify areas for performance improvement and mitigate risks.

Develop and implement corrective actions and quality improvement initiatives based on audit findings and data analysis.

Ensure compliance with departmental protocols, regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and industry best practices.

Prepare and present reports on quality assurance activities, findings, and outcomes to executive leadership, regulatory agencies, and accreditation bodies as required.

Monitor and evaluate the performance of technologists, providing feedback, coaching, and training as needed to optimize image quality and ensuring patient care.

Develop and implement career progression framework for novice technologists, radiology techs and to progress to technologist II and III based on scanning competencies in addition to other duties as required by the position.

In collaboration with clinical educators, create a nurturing culture and organized rotation schedule for students to ensure they can be prepared, coached, and mentored for a staff position upon graduation.

Stay abreast of advancements in Radiology technology, quality assurance methodologies, and healthcare regulations, integrating new knowledge and best practices into quality assurance programs.

Establish and maintain effective communication channels across the department, including technologists, departmental management, radiologists, sonographer practitioners, clinical educators, radiologists, physicians, and administrative staff.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree in administration preferred.

Certification as a Registered Technologist

Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in management,

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement policies, and procedures in accordance with related regulatory requirements and standards.

Experience working with regulatory agencies, accreditation bodies, and external auditors preferred.

Strong understanding of imaging technology, equipment operation, image acquisition techniques, and quality assurance principles.

Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams, build consensus, and drive change.

Proficiency in data analysis, performance measurement, and quality improvement methodologies.
