Director of Finance

A well-established non-profit in Palm Beach County, FL is seeking a Director of Finance (DOF). The DOF is responsible for all financial functions of the agency and its related organizations; providing sound financial recommendations and advice to the CEO, Treasurer, and Senior Leadership Team on administration and coordination of fiscal policy and programs. The DOF oversees and provides leadership and strategic alignment towards business initiatives for all financial operations within the agency. The DOF will report to and work closely with the CEO and Treasurer to develop and implement strategies across the organization to achieve the agency's mission.

Essential Functions

Supervise and control all facility business functions to include General Ledger Accounting, Budget, Auditing, Payroll, and Accounts Payables and Receivables

Administer an accounting system designed to track, reconcile, and report on agency-administered programs ensuring timely and proper billing

Ensure financial transactions are performed in accordance with GAAP utilizing internal controls to safeguard the agency's assets

Provide expert advice on the interpretation of account regulations and impact of new legislation or program initiatives

Counsel CEO, BOD, and Finance and Audit Committees on finance policy to ensure that financial strategies, decisions, and functions effectively facilitate the achievement of strategic goals

Perform audits of financials and grants to ensure annual audits can be completed timely and without issue

Ensure compliance with all regulatory bodies, guidelines, and laws providing timely updates to CEO, BOD, and committees as needed

Ensure state and IRS filings are completed and submitted timely and accurately

Perform cash flow planning, business forecasting, and cost allocation analysis to identify opportunities, manage costs, and reallocate savings

Prepare, monitor, and coordinate annual operating and capital budgets through analysis and forecasting of the usage of funds within a program, assuring annual budget projections

Monthly review of grant reimbursement billing, expenditures, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with grant awards for proper billing and documentation in the general ledger

Assist with review of all legal contracts with vendors and grantors

Continually monitor and assess competencies of finance department staff, providing guidance and support to foster career growth, ensure cohesion, and equal and equitable treatment

Collaborate with human resources on employee matters and disciplinary/corrective actions to ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, and applicable federal and state regulations

Ensure proper management of finance personnel, empowering and motivating staff to foster career growth, retain talent, and foster a cordial work environment

All other duties as assigned by the CEO

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or closely related financial degree, Master's preferred.

Current Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License preferred, but not required

Minimum of seven (5) years accounting experience

Minimum of five (2) years of supervisory not for profit accounting experience and knowledge of fund and grant accounting is preferred

Demonstrated leadership, team building and management, and interpersonal skills

Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications - Excel, Word, SharePoint, and Outlook, experience with financial software programs (MIP True Fund Accounting System experience a is a plus), and Paylocity Software

In office position 3 days a week.

Working Conditions

Prolonged periods of sitting for data entry

Availability to work/respond during weekend and early/late evening hours when needed

Physical Requirements

Able to lift over your head and bend

Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds

Ability to drive and/or commute between locations and be insured
