About the Role
The Company is seeking a Vice President of Accounting to play a pivotal role in the financial management and operational excellence of the organization. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and coordinating the day-to-day financial operations, including fiscal close processes, annual financial auditing, and the development of the annual budget. This role requires a strategic and tactical leader with a passion for the mission of the company and a deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The VP of Accounting will also be tasked with managing a diverse staff, implementing sophisticated accounting systems, and ensuring compliance with all financial standards and regulations.Candidates for the VP of Accounting position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline, and a CPA certification or equivalent experience. A strong background in financial reporting, as well as experience in a mid to large size non-profit organization with a complex financial portfolio, is essential. The role demands a leader with excellent communication, relationship building, and collaboration skills, who can work effectively with senior leaders, staff, the Board, funders, and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in change management, be adept at managing accounting practices in high-growth environments, and have a strong understanding of GAAP, financial management, and compliance requirements. Knowledge of the LGBTQ+ community is a plus, and a commitment to the values and mission of the company is a must.
