The successful candidate will manage and direct all IT resources to create and manage the portfolio of IT-enabled investment programmes to achieve the company strategic objectives Establish overall area budget that enables achievement of strategic intent of business
Manage budget to control expenditure and ensure the efficient use of resources
Develop and implement business measurement metrics to ensure performance is measured against financial goals agreed for the operational areas and performance against competitors
Monitor financial integrity of business and proactively deal with financial challenges
Develop operational efficiency and quality standards in line with the targeted financial performance of the business
Develop and ensure execution of integrated financial strategies to maximise growth across business areas
Develop integrated frameworks, guidelines and optimisation plans to drive profitability and economic value add
Design and co-create long term resource optimisation programmes that enable the availability of capital expenditure cash flow for area of responsibility
Ensure financial strategies and processes are consistent with the objectives of the Group
Create professional forums where financial health can be tracked and analysed at board level
Influence and align strategic intent and delivery to provide value add to customers and shareholders
Engage with relevant leaders to collaterally and proactively manage the requirements of relevant function or business
Create alignment, collaboration and synergy between the various specialist areas to provide a comprehensive business solution to customers
Balance interests of a variety of clients, readily readjusting priorities to respond to pressing and changing client demands
Align, integrate and innovate area of accountability to enable the creation of an integrated and specialised solutions to create a sustainable competitive advantage for Business
Conduct abstract, conceptual and comparative analysis of high-level reports for strategic decision-making purposes
Maintain expert knowledge on relevant legislative amendments, industry best practices and FirstRand internal compliance procedures and requirements
Anticipate and apply and policies/procedures to manage and control both financial and non-financial risks
Ensure compliance with audit requirements
Ensure that sales strategies are aligned across customer value proposition
Influence the understanding and adoption of the organisational strategic direction across all levels of the organisation and its stakeholders
Define and create a long-term human capability strategic framework to enable sustainable business performance
Ensure availability, support and maintenance of all IT systems in accordance with its business requirements
Develop IT strategy in support of business objectives
Identify business opportunities or create new business concepts and development approaches to support
business growth through Information technology, Business Intelligence and Architectural tools and models
Ensure robustness and quality of IT architectural decisions including motivations to the required FRG governance bodies
Control the management of agreed IT and architectural projects to ensure successful implementation within agreed timelines
Ensure effectiveness of projects by investigating the integrated nature of project requirements
Qualification and experience
An appropriate and relevant tertiary qualification is a minimum requirement
An additional business qualification would be an added advantage
Experience in leading a complex technical team preferably in the Financial Services
A minimum of 10 years solid experience in a complex, diverse, and distributed IT environment
Sound knowledge various programming languages
A minimum of 15 years’ experience as a senior IT professional in a large and complex corporate environment, preferably banking
A proven track record in managing IT shared services and large-scale IT projects in a decentralised organisational structure
A tried and tested ability to manage and lead strong personalities, multidisciplinary and high-performance teams
Experience in driving organisation wide change initiatives and securing key stakeholder buy-in
A sound IT functional knowledge and experience in systems development and IT operations and understanding of business processes
Strategic thinker, able to clearly articulate, communicate and implement a vision for IT
Leading a multidiscipline team
Sound IT functional knowledge and experience in systems development and IT operations, and good understanding of business processes
Able to manage engagement with a wide range of stakeholders
Ability to understand and lead complex IT debates
Ability to withstand immense pressure and restore calm amid major crises
Ability to influence and relate to people at all levels
Good people management skills
Key stakeholder management and sound relationships with key players in the IT community across the Group
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills
Sound business acumen and ability to identify opportunities to innovate
Business engineering and process automation skills
High energy levels and results orientation
