Were seeking a capable and experienced fundraiser to lead the

strategy of OPB and KMHDs philanthropy programs as OPBs Senior

Director, Philanthropy. This is a unique opportunity to work at a

beloved public media organization that is growing its original

journalism to better serve people across our regionat a time of

great need for our civil society and democracy.

As a Senior, Director, Philanthropy, youll lead and coach a

talented team, to advance fundraising around key organizational

priorities and initiatives. Youll work closely with people across

our Development Department along with leaders in Content, Audience

Engagement, Legal, Finance and other teams. Youll have the

opportunity to work directly with generous and dedicated high-level

supporters, while identifying and connecting with new major

supporters from OPBs extensive, region-wide base of members. If

Position Details

The Senior Director, Philanthropy is responsible for leading

strategy and oversight of OPB and KMHD Philanthropy programs

including the highest levels of member support (Presidents Council

$10,000+; Cornerstone Society $1,000+), planned giving, and

project/initiative support from individuals. The Senior Directors

duties emphasize the identification and cultivation of prospects,

solicitation and stewardship of major outright and planned gifts to

support the organizations strategic priorities. This position

leads and coaches a high-performance Philanthropy team of 6 FTE.

The Senior Director manages a high-performance portfolio of

approximately 50 donors and prospects with capacity for

contributions of $100,000+, including principal gifts, creating

and implementing strategies to secure optimal support. The Senior

Director reports to and works closely with the VP and Chief

Development Officer and collaborates effectively with other

Development leaders, the President and CEO, and colleagues across

the organization.

Minimum Qualifications

Genuine interest in and enthusiasm for OPBs public service

mission, vision and values, commitment to equity and anti-racism,

and the ability to effectively articulate our case for

Seven years of successful experience with escalating

responsibility in fundraising organizations including prospect

identification, cultivation, solicitation of donors for

significant, leading gifts. An adept and intuitive steward of donor

relationships and their philanthropy.

A highly skilled, instinctive fundraiser with demonstrated

success in growing donor relationships and raising major outright

and planned gifts to optimize philanthropic support through

unrestricted member support, special initiatives and significant

campaigns.

Demonstrated success in supervisory, team building and

management responsibilities, coaching and mentoring skills.

Palpable curiosity and a growth mindset, oriented toward

constant improvement and learning, and enhancing our fundraising

work and staff development with innovative approaches, techniques

and tools. Adaptable, flexible, and able to thrive in a

changing

Ability to exercise sound judgment, confidentiality and

discretion and compliance with OPB policies and standards and the

AFP code of ethics.

Well-versed in techniques of major and planned gift fundraising

including strategic use of prospect research, approaches to gift

agreements and best practices, and compliance with IRS requirements

related to charitable

Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal

skills, oriented toward teamwork and collaboration. High EQ, an

empathetic and intuitive listener, and astute cultural

competence.

Experience in strategic integration of leadership volunteers in

high-level fundraising activities and donor stewardship.

Effective use of business software tools including the

Microsoft Office suite, constituent relationship management (CRM)

systems such as Salesforce, and project management Eagerness to

learn and support team adoption of new applications.

Valid drivers license with a good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated successful management of special fundraising

initiatives and significant campaigns.

Experience and demonstrated aptitude for marketing and digital

marketing/funding

Experience with expense and revenue budget development,

management and analysis.

Exposure to leadership training.

Understanding of direct marketing membership programs.

CFRE certification.

Additional Information

This position reports to the VP & Chief Development Officer

and is benefits eligible.

The probable hiring range for this exempt position is between

$110,000 $120,000, depending on qualifications.

For the safety of our employees, the contractors/vendors we

work with, and the public we serve, OPB has a mandatory COVID

vaccination policy and all employees are required to show proof of

vaccination.

This position has access to highly sensitive data and therefore

must pass a background check.

This position requires a valid driver's license and will

requires consent to OPB conducting a driving record check.

Employees will not be allowed to use a company or personal vehicle

for work purposes without completion and satisfactory results of

this check.
