Amherst is seeking a Director, Human Resources to directly support our Investment Management organization and lead the Amherst US HR business partner team. This position is specifically focused on serving as the strategic Investment Management HR Business Partner, focusing on developing strategies and executing against all people development processes, including leadership pipeline, talent acquisition and management, compensation, promotions, performance management, career development, employee relations, and diversity initiatives.

As a key member of our Human Capital Leadership Team, the position will be critical in optimizing and streamlining HR processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and employee experience and providing strategic solutions to support leaders and company objectives. Additionally, the position will manage and provide day-to-day work direction to our US HR Business Partner team to facilitate and drive key annual processes, including reporting and analytics on people-related metrics and trends. This is a hands-on role, requiring both strategic and tactical skills. The Sr. Director is responsible for setting high-performance standards for themselves and others and having an analytical mindset that can utilize factual data to develop innovative solutions to human capital-related and other business challenges.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the entire employee life cycle and will lead various HR activities in close partnership with the Merchant Banking leadership team in employee engagement, employee relations, total rewards, talent management, and recruiting. Positively influences and impacts the client organization by building strong relationships and offering innovative human capital solutions.

In collaboration with business leaders and people managers, identify, develop, and deploy employee experience programs and campaigns that unify and harmonize company culture. Foster retention, engagement, and a sense of belonging across a geographically dispersed and culturally/ethnically diverse employee population. Coach/guide leaders and associates to ensure consistency between corporate values and behaviors.

Continuously evaluate and enhance Human Capital programs and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness; keep current on HR trends and best practices.

Lead change management efforts related to implementing new human capital initiatives, process improvements, or organizational changes. Communicate effectively with employees and stakeholders to drive adoption and minimize resistance to change. Provide training, coaching, and support to ensure the successful implementation and integration of changes.

Lead and own complex global projects and support cross-functional programs through deliberate prioritization against business objectives.

Develop and implement HR policies and procedures in line with go-forward company objectives and industry best practices.

Serve as a strategic HR business partner, manage employee relations issues, and provide guidance on conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.

Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, and OSHA.

Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to improve the department's efficiency and services performed.

Expertise and Capabilities

Balanced between strategic and tactical orientations; possesses a "can-do" attitude with a willingness to roll up sleeves and execute. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a high-performing HR business partner team.

Analytical mindset and technical skillset - excellent quantitative skills, data analysis, and problem-solving skills. Thinks multiple steps ahead; prepares for potential problems and escalates issues when appropriate; and juggles competing deadlines effectively.

Demonstrated track record of working with and analyzing large sets of data to drive decisions and insights; commitment to prioritizing the needs of a broad range of constituents; passion for data and reporting that provides valuable business insight.

Ability to work with Excel daily, strong preference for individuals to be comfortable doing macros, VLOOKUPs, compensation models, and pivot tables.

Strong understanding of navigating the position's strategic and tactical aspects (rolling up your sleeves when necessary and delegating where appropriate).

Flexibility to work across diverse projects (i.e., strong quantitative skills combined with an aptitude for talent management initiatives) with different stakeholders. Demonstrated project management skills with experience operationalizing complex initiatives into systematic and efficient work streams.

Understand how to ensure operational excellence in leading an HR support function to develop long-term, strategic programs that connect with business operations and ensure operational excellence.

Entrepreneurial with integrity and business purpose. Able to drive accountability and a sense of urgency in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Experience as a leader and contributor to the business beyond HR; the ability to collaborate with the executive team and serve as a thought partner on enterprise-wide operations.

Ability to navigate competing priorities and demonstrate flexibility and agility in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities to make efficient and reasoned decisions in high-stakes situations; demonstrable record of exercising excellent judgment, pragmatism, discretion, and handling confidential information.

Ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and partnership at all company levels; ability to work cross-functionally and develop close partnerships with key partners across the organization.

Qualifications

10+ years of progressive human capital experience with a minimum of 5 years leading an HR business partner function.

Bachelor's degree in business, Human Resources, or related field. Master's Degree preferred.

Expert knowledge of HR service delivery, policies, and compliance processes.

Strong knowledge of HR technology, systems, and tools, with a track record of successful implementation and optimization. Working knowledge of Workday is a must.

Superior written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.

Excellent aptitude in Excel and PowerPoint; proficiency in HR technology and data analysis tools.

Experience in capital markets, private equity, or financial services, or high growth preferred.
